Leo looked around and saw one of his squad mates with a sniper rifle. He walked over and they swapped weapons. 'Keep her warm for me, mate.' he said, gesturing towards his DMR. Leo turned to the Captain and saluted him, quickly dashing off towards a golden spot he'd seen earlier. It was a small ridge over a now dried up creek. On top of the ridge was some small shrubs and a tree, providing shade and natural cover.

Barker waited for the others to get into position. He positioned the rest of the team parallel to each of the turrets, the number of turrets being eight, so he made groups of two, with himself being alone.
He Stayed low, scrutinizing the grunt on the turret. He was worried, in his experience no plan worked out perfectly. Not even an A.I could take into account every possibility. But he waited for the signal: the explosions.

Alex waited for the signal to fire, watching the grunts and the ridge where Leo was, waiting for the shot to be fired to turn the grunts away from their posts. The moment the shot was fired and the covenant troops turned their backs he pulled the trigger, the first rocket aimed straight for the middle of the group. He then waiting for the smoke trail to get out of his vision before firing the second, ducking back under the bushes to reload the launcher.

The moment those explosions rocked the earth, Lix jumped up to join the charge.

Leo watched as the Covenant stupidly turned their heads away from the dead allies that he'd killed and towards the explosions. Chuckling to himself, he shouldered the Sniper Rifle and ran to meet up with the charge, darting from cover to cover as he went.

Barker sprinted, leading the charge across the fire-break, when he reached the shade turret he jumped up to a leg, leaped to another and hoisted himself by grabbing the grunt's neck and snapping it and pulling off the lifeless corpse.
He jumped in and looked at the controls. It wasn't the first time he had used one, and so he quickly orientated himself and opened up. He focused on the leaders of the group, elites, mostly.
As the remaining covenant realized what had happened, plasma and pink shards started flying past, sinking into the turret's armor plating. Barker was suddenly reminded of the covenant's disregard for their soldier's safety as plasma bolts and shards flew past the Shade's obvious flaw, no head guard.

Lix had made it to her turret, and was just climbing in when she felt the heat of plasma-fire splash across her leg. She bit back a yelp, concentrating her attentions on the turret controls. She gave a roar as she opened up, bathing the remaining forces with a barrage of turret-fire.

Leo managed to get to the Captain and the rest of their squad in time to catch an Elite unawares. It had been sneaking up behind his superior officer at a slow speed, rendering him invisible to motion trackers. Leo charged and spear tackled the alien from behind, quickly unsheathing his combat knife and plunging it into the Elites neck, followed by a sharp twist. The Elite choked and gurgled on its own blood for a while, and then finally died. Leo wiped his knofe clean and sheathed it again, and stepped near the Captain to salute. That was when he spotted Lix's leg.
'Ah, dammit! Medic! Plasma burn!'

Once satisfied that al enemies had been neutralize he stopped firing and dismounted.
He looked over to the next turret over where Lix was. He saw the injury that Leo was referring to. It was not too bad like he originally expected. But still needed seeing to and so sent the medic to take a look.
Meanwhile he walked through the bodies, satisfied that his plan worked. He walked over to a platform which was seemingly attached to the ship via a purple stream of light. It reminded him of their gravity lifts. But bigger.
As he looked up he saw two figures coming down, and then another two. Hunters.

Alex and his squadron gathered with barker's once the fight was over, complimenting the marine on his brilliant plan. But as the lift activated and pairs of Hunters began dropping down to the ground, Scarlet let out a groan. "ah, shit! I HATE Hunters...the bastards just don't die!" She grumbled, ducking down in cover with her comrades to avoid the fuel rod blasts.
"Bigger. Fish. To fry." Axel growled in reply, the way he said it sounding particularly irritated. The woman just shrugged at that. "dammit, unless we can get the buggers to turn around we're screwed!"
Alex carefully glanced around the rocks, looking around the foes and them and taking a look at everyone in their group...someone needed to get around behind them and catch them from behind...
"Barker, sir! Any ideas? we need a way to get someone in behind them, weapons won't do anything as long as they're facin' this way!" he queried, reloading his weapon whilst he had the chance to, cringing slightly as a large bolt of green plasma slammed into the other side of the rock he was crouched behind. "If we could distract them long enough, I think Leo and I could follow the rocks around behind them, it's your call, sir!"

Lix didn't like the attention that a medic call brought, but she fought off the urge to growl her complaints at Leo. She let the medic treat the burn with an efficiency on field-medics could manage, and was soon back on her own two feet with only the slightest of limps. She then turned her gaze where everyone else seemed to be looking with varying degrees of horror. Her jaw tightened immediately. Hunters... she'd seen several battles in which they were involved... and the rate of victory still lay greatly in favour with the behemoth beasts.
She made her way over to stand beside her commander, but unlike many of the others in the squad, who chose to flap their jaws prematurely, she remained silent.
Baker ALWAYS had a plan.

Leo spotted the Hunters as they came down with a soft thud of their massive feet. He instinctively dove for cover behind a rock outcropping, which to him made sense because it was a million times sturdier than trees.
'Sir, orders?'
He watched on as the first couple fired at a couple of ODSTs to cover the next couple as they came down. When all four Hunters were on deck, they stood facing different directions.
'They've got each other covered. Fields of fire overlap one another, sir. We're gonna need to make a hole!' he yelled as he ducked under the destructive force of a Fuel Rod Cannon behind his rock.

Barker stared at the hunters with a clenched jaw. He had run out of ideas. The beats covered each other's only weak spots, and the only way to get to them is by killing or moving one, and that was not going to happen easily. Bullets would just ping off that armor and they were out of rockets. One of the hunters fired, barker ducked instinctively, though the shot was not for him, it instead struck the medic, vaporizing half his torso and sending the rest flying back into a tree.
He looked to his second with an angry look in his eyes, he had lost his patience now. "That's it!"
With that he threw his weapons on the ground and ran back and jumped into the turret. "Everyone stay the hell in cover, you step out and I will bloody shoot you too!" He fired the turret as fast as it would. The hunters kept formation stubbornly, covering each other from their surrounded position. The hunter that was facing Barker brought up his shield, it was slowly melting before the barrage of plasma fire, Barker shouted a rage ridden scream as he fired. Then though, the plasma turret overheated. Steam burst everywhere.
The hunter brought the shield back down, and fired a shot of plasma. Barker had enough time to grab a couple of plasma grenades that were next to the turret seat, and jump out before the bolt hit dead on. The turret was propelled into the air and exploded as barker rolled from it. Barker come out of the roll almost perfectly, he then sprinted for the hunter position, aptly dodging another bolt of plasma. As he came in range the hunter brought his shield down in an attempt to crush Barker, who slid underneath it. He slid easily without the extra weight of rifle. He was then behind all the hunters. He stuck both plasma grenades underneath the armor plating of the back of one of the hunters, he then turned to narrowly miss another melee attack from another hunter. This time he moved closer to the hunter, the hunter's shield landed behind him, actually covering him from the blast he just set off.
The hunter that he had stuck the grenades to was now in a few large pieces. The hunter that had inadvertently protected barker reeled back from the explosion, barker took this opportunity to use that hunter as a ramp in which to kick off and jump onto the back of another hunter.
He took out his nine inch combat knife and stabbed the beast several times in it's soft spots and then cut it's neck open, it too died. It landed on the floor with a large metallic thud.
The one he kicked off shot at him, caring little for the other remaining hunter, which had now decided it best to turn around and risk exposing himself.
Barker barely missing the shot, but had now two hunters coming at him from opposite sides. One attacked, he rolled to the left and the hunter struck the other, smashing its helmet in, killing it. The last remaining hunter howled in what Barker decided was frustration. The beast charged him and Barker charged too, getting in the first attack.
Barker stabbed at the fuel rod attached to its arms, until he hit something important. The weapon exploded, killing the hunter and sending Barker flying fifty feet back.
He lied motionless on the ground, minor burns all over his body, along with a few sever ones to his face.

Many of the ODSTs were frozen in awe. Had they REALLY just seen that? ONE MAN just took down FOUR HUNTERS? Alex, on the other hand, called for a field medic and bolted out to the downed soldier, weapon ready in case other covenant forces came down to surprise them, he then knelt down, warily, beside the other. "oi, Barker...Barker, can you hear me? Sir, I'd advise that here is not exactly the best place for a nap" he quipped, voice as level and calm as ever, not showing nearly the sarcastic humor as his comment. The ODST group's leader stepped forward not far behind Alex with the medic close behind, weapon aimed at the drop lift. The black-armoured soldier offered a gestured order to their second, who nodded, putting his weapon down and turning his attention to assisting the field medic. The leader's actions prompted a response from the awestruck Helljumpers, who advanced to back up their squadron leaders, weapons prepped and aimed ahead in case more troops were dropped.
