Leo cursed as the medic swabbed at the area around his eye. 'Dammit, man, watch it! Friggin' Jackal blades...Some serious crap goin' on around here. Why're the Covenant even here? There's nothin' here for 'em!' He got up when the mesic finished wrapping a temporary bandage around his head and eye. He looked at Lix. 'Tell me; does the scar look bad-ass or hot?' he chuckled and winced in pain.

Barker walked ahead a bit looking at the radio station just ahead. "Would have knowing why they were at Reach, save them, would have knowing why they turned on us during the first contact on Harvest save hundreds of lives? Will knowing why they are here save this squad? No. So shut up and get back in line."[/b] He looked away from Leo. "Besides, they don't need a reason. They are nothing but blind murderers, and that is all they will ever be. Unless they are dead and then they are dead murderers."

Lix rolled her eyes at Leo when he asked her whether the scar would look any good. "You know that you're not my type Manik, so don't waste everyone's time," she retorted, turning her attention back to their captain. She was the only girl on the squad, and she wasn't inclined to let anyone hang any shit on her because of that fact. "I think it would be safe to assume the jackals have snipers up in those buildings, captain," she offered as she slowly rose from her hiding-spot, being careful to keep an eye out for movement.

Leo nodded in agreement to his Captain. 'I'll happily work that angle, sir. Bring the rain, I say.' He reloaded his DMR and continued scouting ahead, this time constantly checking his surrounds due to losing half his vision. He was gonna have to get used to this.

"Leo, your wounded and have a fucked eye. How would you think it's a good idea to act as scout? Besides I said get back in line. I don't need anymore mistakes. In saying that the Lieutenant is right. Be careful and keep your eyes up." Jeremy Barker was haunted by the same thing any leader in a war was, loss. And loss sticks to those responsible. He hated it when his men and woman were in danger. Which was hard to deal with in a war as it was necessary. Barker walked through the street, on the left side taking cover every now and again looking for snipers. The area wasn't a high density city area, in fact just past the radio station there was a massive bush area.

Lix crept along a carefully as she could, doing her best to keep an eye out for any snipers on the rooves overhead. So far there'd been no movement or fire, but There was no point taking any chances.

Leo kept his eye to the buildings surrounding them, particularly on the apartment building ahead. So far, he'd seen nothing, but he'd seen those Covie bastards use cloaking on their snipers before. That battle had ended quickly, and without a UNSC victory. He switched to thermals on his visor, and found at least half a dozen heat signatures. 'Possible trouble ahead, sir. Half dozen heat sigs, all located at high visibility perches. Orders?'

Barker was not willing to put his marines in danger any more than was necessary, so he held up a fist. He looked up at the building Leo pointed out. Could not see anything but here were heat signatures and that meant only one thing - Elites. A lot of them. Barkers squad was good, somewhat renown, in fact. squad 01 of the 58th battalion. They were not suicidal though. Jeremy made sure of that. He looked up again at the building, trying to figure something out, as he did eight balls of fire tore through the clouds and and crashed around the area, seven of which landed harshly around and through the building the other landed in front of them. "More covenant?"No, not covenant. Their vehicles were usually blue and purple hues, these were black and grey. The smoke cleared, Helljumpers! All but two of the HEVs blasted opened including the one that landed in from of them. The Elites on top of the building engaged suddenly on the ODSTs and they fired back, though surprising unprepared, they were being ripped apart. A few elites fell but more ODSTs did the same. "Shit! Open fire!"((your post Yuffie ))

((YAY!!)) The drop pod in front of them crashed open, then, the ODST inside leaping out and slinging an RPG over his shoulder. "TAKE THIS YOU SPLIT-JAW BASTARDS!!!" he bellowed, the voice sounding surprisingly young, as he fired a round up at the building, several Elites giving that satisfying roar of agony as they were killed or wounded in the blast. "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR MESSIN' WITH THE UNSC!!!!" he taunted again, tossing the rocket launcher aside and pulling out a DMR, turning to the marines behind him. "thought we'd drop in for a visit! not interrupting anything, are we?" he remarked, reading his weapon and aiming up at the building, staying behind his drop-pod for cover. This ODST appeared a decent amount shorter than the others and sounded a great deal younger, probably little older than 18 to 20 years old. After a fairly lengthy exchange of bullets, he cursed rather loudly suddenly when his DMR gave that horrible click sound that was every soldier's worst nightmare. He put the weapon on his back, deciding he would rather keep it and locate some ammo later than discard it and quickly made a dash to grab a plasma pistol off of a nearby corpse, dive-rolling to cover, narrowly avoiding some enemy fire, he then charged a shot and looked out from behind the rubble he'd ducked behind to fire the charged shot at an Elite, frying its shields in time for another of his squad -a woman from the sounds of her voice- to put a bullet trough its skull. "nice shot, five!" he called, the woman offering a rather gruff reply of "save your damn compliments for AFTER we're done blowing the shit outta these mothers!". He just shrugged and turned back to the battle, waiting for his pistol to cool off before continuing to fire. The markings on his and the woman's shoulder plates indicated they were of Griffyn squadron. At a glance around, all of the 6 ODSTs who were still standing were Griffyn, it was unsure whether the others were or not, since they had either never gotten out of their pods or had fallen fairly quickly, but it wasn't likely that they were part of another group. More than likely they were unfortunate rookies who weren't ready for this kind of fight yet...but that's how it went in war. According to this squad's file, or what wasn't covered in black ink, they were a mix of the rough and tough, go with what works type and the down-to-earth, take no chances type. Not to mention they were all relatively young talking military standards. ((just a note, I did alter his age a little and modified his squad and such to fit this RP so that's why he's a little older than originally XD also I hope this is alright :I I really dunno XD lemme know))

((dammit... now i feel like re-claiming my chick from that squad >.>))
Lix started firing from her fixed position near cover when the ODST drop-pods hit. It was a embittering experience to watch a group of Shock Troopers get torn apart so easily, but that made it all the more inspiring when the firefight ended and those that remained moved over to greet their squad. Content that the coast was clear for now Lix, moved out to stand beside her captain as he greeted the new arrivals.

Leo had laid down fire on the Elites the moment the first ODST had hit the deck, but now that the firefight was over, he was busy searching the bodies of the fallen Helljumpers for ammunition and dogtags. He'd managed to secure himself a Battle Rifle and a Shotgun, and was now passing ammo around to the rest of his squad like Christmas presents, Santa Claus act and all.

"Keep focused squad," He snapped. He then turned his attention to the ODST. "No disrespect, but I don't care who or what you are, what I do care about is for you to know I am in charge, either go somewhere else or fight with us, we could use the help but either way I'm not going to argue because we need to get to that radio station to broadcast an evacuation plan, now." Barker started to move, signaling his squad to fall in behind him.

The lead ODST moved to stand beside his second -the young lad from before- whispering a conversation with him briefly before the boy looked up to the captain. "We'll be going with you, sir! Griffyn squadron is at your command" he reported, with a brief salute. "Sergeant Alexis Rickman, Griffyn 2." he introduced, briefly, informing the other soldier that he would take care of his men and that he would see to it that the marines got to the radio station in one piece, but if Barker had any orders his squad would follow. As they got walking, quiet conversation between the ODSTs revealed that the first in command was mostly silent and gave his orders directly to his second, Alex, with battle situations as an exception. Griffyn 3 was the largest of the group and 5 and 6 were siblings and were constantly comparing their work in a competitive manner.

Liuetenant Lix moved up to stand beside her commander, glancing at him as the ODSTs pledged their support. Her commander was a touchy sort... it had taken her quite some time learn his quirks and better avoid stepping on his toes.

Leo cocked his rifle and waited with the rest of the team while the Captain sorted things out with the ODSTs, occasionally joking about the situation with his squad-mates. 'Maybe we'll finally see some proof about these Helljumpers, boys.' Leo didn't like ODSTs as a rule. He figured they were just like the rest of the UNSC forces, just given better and different equipment, making them look all high and mighty to Leo.
