[Renegade]

The whole god damn city was being ripped apart by plasma fire. Banshees screamed overhead as they rained plasma down on pinned down marines.
It was FUBAR, communications with high command were cut as were the long range communications. It was every squad for themselves.
Lieutenant Jeremy Barker fired his MA5B, felling several jackals that crowned the hill. He then led his squad up the hill that was littered with bodies and debris - Both covenant and human.
"Get up the hill! We need to reach the bunker!" He shouted, his voice only just piercing the explosions and gunfire that plagued the city streets.

Talia Felix was forced to throw herself to the ground to avoid a bolt of plasma that sailed sizzling over her head. The weight of the coms-pack on her back slammed her chest into the ground harder than she'd intended, and it winded her briefly.
"C'mon Lix," one of her squad-mates said, getting to his feet beside her - from where he'd ducked himself, and helping her to her feet. They'd been deployed in this shit-hole for way too long now, they were exhausted... but it really didn't look like there was any way out at this point.
Talia - called Lix by her squadmates - accepted his hand and pulled herself to her feet, rearranging the heavy com-unit on her shoulders before making the break up the hill after their C.O.

[Elario Luminus]

Leonardo Manik surged up the hill after the CO, constantly checking around them for any immediate threats through the scope of his DMR. A soldier tapped him on the shoulder abruptly, and he looked at his comrade. 'Hey, gun's jammed! Fix me up, will ya?' Leonardo took the rifle and slammed it around a bit till a chunk of dirt fell out. Confident it'll work again, he handed it back. 'There you go, mate! Should work a treat.'
'Thanks, da Vinci. Let's go, move it!'
They continued up the bloody hill.

Captain Barker have the marine with the jammed Gun a look of cold stone. "Get your shit together, marine! Or you WILL die out here."
Barker stood on the crest of the hill. Next to him was half of a four story office building. All furniture in tact,mon that side at least. In front of them at the bottom of the hill about 300 meters away was the mouth of a small river that led out into a estuary. Which had residential areas on the left (west side) and heavy commercial and dense residential areas on the right side. Most of which had been destroyed within the last four hours since the start of the attack.
There was a cruiser overhead fighting in atmosphere with a UNSC destroyer and two frigates. It was winning, only just though.
"lieutenant, hold on to that pack. Down that road is the 15.8fm radio station. We might be able to scavenge some parts and maybe find something to boost our signal to cut through this jamming."
The Captain moved down the hill after assessing the street ahead and finding it 'relatively' safe.

[Tifa Lockhart]

"Yes sir!" Lix agreed immediately, taking a moment to catch her breath before moving after him. She was their techy, or so everyone called her. She was good with computers, communications hardware and just about anything else that usually didn't work the way it was supposed to. She was generally good at unbreaking things.
"It's gonna have to be one helluva boost though sir, communications are jammed tighter than fort knox."

[Elario Luminus]

Leonardo followed on, DMR constantly at the ready. Further down the road he thought he saw movement.
'Sir, movement twelve o'clock! Possible friendly forces. Want me to scout ahead?' He hefted his rifle confidently to show that he'd be up for it if his Captain asked.

[Renegade]

Barker looked ahead but couldn't see anything, he had learnt to trust Leo though. "Roger that, go ahead. Be careful."
Barker crouched and ordered his squad to do the same. He waited.

Lix lowered herself down as instructed, her own rifle poised and ready for whatever might approach, should it be unfriendly.

[Elario Luminus]

Leo crept forward through the ruined buildings and torn roads, rifle constantly at the ready. He saw movement again and grabbed a flare from his belt.
'Eagle!' he yelled, before breaking it across his thigh and throwing it towards the movement. He saw the flash of an elongated head and the sharpened teeth of something, which then screeched and activated two small energy shields on it's forearms. 'Skirmishers!' Leo yelled back to his Captain, quickly dropping the Skirmisher with a headshot before it could move. Out of nowhere more spilled out, opening fire with Needle Rifles and other plasma weaponry.

"Fuck! Return fire!" Jeremy cursed as a needle flew past his face tearing skin from his cheek. "Gunners rapid fire! Riflemen, take them down!"
Barker followed his own orders and got in a few clean headshots with his DMR before taking cover.
"We need to push forward. To the radio station on the outskirts."

Lix knelt with her back to a large crate and she'd bend around the corner of it to take a few shots whenever it was relatively safe to do so. She had to keep the communications pack she wore safe. One more plasma score at it was not going to be of any use to anyone. She could only fix so much damage.

[Elario Luminus]

Leo dove backwards as a Skirmisher rushed him with a glowing pink blade. He shot the aliens wrist, causing it to drop the blade. It shattered with a small explosion, sending shrapnel into Leo's left eye. Roaring in agony, and blood pouring down his face, the Marine shot wildly with his DMR. A random round clipped the top of the Skirmisher's head, dropping it instantly.
'Medic! Medic!' He fell back to the group at a run, grabbing at the open air through his bloody vision.

[Renegade]

"Goddammit, Leo" Barker cursed. He then got 'in the zone', and jumped out of his cover firing a barrage of bullets at the skirmishers, killing the few left.
"Get the hell over here, Brenin." he yelled at the squad doctor, "Fix him up and hurry it up, we need to get a signal out and get an evac started. We don't have time to waste"

Lix watched as one of her squadmates got hit. By now she was well and truly used to seeing them get hurt, they'd been fighting this war long enough. She continued to duck around her cover to fire when she was able, making sure to protect the comm unit she carried from any stray
