Lix - as the next in command - barked some quick orders to keep them covered to the other Marines in her squad, before running down to join the ODSTs down by her fallen commander. "If I may speak candidly, Sir," she began, not waiting for an answer - suspecting she wouldn't actually get one from the wounded man anyway, "you're a crazy son-of-a-bitch."
((I will be assuming control of the squad leader of Kaitlyn's ODST squadron, soon. The character is mine from a previous continuity anyway.))

Leo just gaped at his Captain in shock and awe. Well...that's one way to make a hole in their defences... He dashed to his Captain's side and nealed down next to him, constantly keeping his only eye out for any more incoming enemy forces, rifle aimed and ready to go. 'Dear Sir. Although heroes are needed, no need to die being one. Sincerely, the entire UNSC.'

After seeing they were okay barker smirked. "Shut up, Leo" He groaned and looked at his lieutenant. "Perhaps, but that's what it seems to take to lead you people." The medic put a strange gel on his burns, which actually hissed a bit as they sunk into the wounds. Barker simply winced and got up. "Right. Everyone onto the platform. Now"

After he was certain that Barker was alright, Alex stood and turned to follow his squadron onto the platform, weapon once again at the ready. The two youngest of the squadron seemed edgy and perhaps a bit adverse to the idea of getting on board a real, functioning, filled-to-the-core-with-covenant-soldiers enemy ship, but followed without any spoken complaints (though they likely had many objections that they kept to themselves). When his squadron's leader turned to him and gave some quick gestures as orders, Alex nodded and turned to his team, murmuring some quick instructions, each soldier nodding in turn to illustrate their understanding of their role in the job. The group of black-armoured soldiers then waited patiently for the marines.

Lix gave a heavy sarcastic sigh when her commander replied. The man was a genius, but a dangerous genius. It was somewhat refreshing to hear him say something with a tinge of humour, he was usually so damn hard-assed. She smirked at him, before turning to bark a repeat of his order, making sure everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing. They'd then pile onto the platform like he'd instructed.

Leo snapped up to full height and hoisted his rifle. He jogged up onto the platform, taking an edge to look out from, all the while hiding behind one of the purple rises. The Marine had heard stories of what these Covenant ships looked like on the inside; as alien and organic-looking as they were on the outside. Leo shivered and refocused. The belly of the beast needed someone on their toes to survive. He waited patiently for Barker's order, regardless of the nerves, excitement, fear and adrenaline surging through him at the time.

Barker got on the platform too, he searched for a mechanism that would activate the 'beam'. He found what he was looking for in the form of a hologram circle on top of a stomach high pedestal. The purple beam glowed a little brighter as it started pulling them up into the ship.
Inside the bay door closed beneath their feet and the lift deactivated. Barker had is rifle leveled out already searching for covenant. Nothing. Perhaps they used all their immediately available soldiers. There two doors on each of the four walls of the small bay. Inside there were a few light covenant vehicles, and a single wraith. The sight of it made barker shudder a little. There were four large blast doors on either side of the room, and then two smaller sliding doors on each corner wall of the room. One of which beeped and glowed green. Sliding apart, the door revealed a blue elite and a small group of grunts. The group looked surprised at their presence. Clearly they put too much faith in the hunters. The scouting party fired on the marines. Barker took cover, and fired when he could from behind a ghost.

Alex had never been inside a covenant ship before...it was really strange to him, but he didn't have time to gawk long before the scouting party arrived. He dived behind a crate (evidently filled with weapons behind the outer casing) and began to open fire on the scouts. In particular, he went straight for the elite, knowing he was the only one at all likely to run to his superiors if he got away...grunts would just run around trying not to die. His squadron had followed suit, ducking under cover and opening fire, though they were clearly being conservative with their bullets. They didn't need to waste too many shots on scouting parties like this.

Lix was quite a distance from any substantial cover, but she laid down a bout of suppressive fire to keep their attackers busy while she made a break across the hangar to hide behind a column, her back to the cold metal. It was strange... the metal and synthetics of a UNSC ship felt warm to the touch and always hummed with life from the engines deep below, you could always expect there to be something going on, no matter what corridor you were in. These alien vessels were freezing cold and deadly silent, she really disliked it. She stayed under cover for long enough to catch her breath before ducking her head out the side to take a few more shots at the group.

Leo dived to the side and rolled behind a pillar across from Lix, slamming his back against the cold hard surface to stop himself from falling out of cover. He cocked his DMR and quickly sighted through the scope at the head of a Jackal trying to shoot at Lix. He exhaled slowly, calming the shudder of his rifle and squeezed the trigger, placing the shot in the large bulbous eye of the alien. He zoomed back out and refocused on a small cluster of Grunts. Leo pulled the trigger in three quick twitches, headshotting the first two and clipping the methane tank of a third. He reloaded as he disappeared behind his pillar again, and started breathing heavily after realising he'd held his breath for that entire time.

((There was no Jackle, and you say he exhaled but then say he held is breath the entire time. O.o I'm just nit-picking, but that's a neat trick.))
Barker broke from cover. He carefully, but quickly picked off what was left, and the room suddenly fell deathly silent. The only sound was the soldier's breath and the clicking of their weapons. Then, the other doors glowed green, and slid open, though Barker could not see anything, but her waiting for whatever was coming. "Reload, stay alert!" He took his own advice and reloaded his rifle. Barker was tired, he was sure the rest of his squad was too, so when he thought he saw something at the corner of his eye, his passed it off as his fatigued mind playing tricks. That was until he heard the screams of one of his men. His gaze was instantly pulled to the source, a marine with a glowing blue lights protruding from his chest. "I'm sorry, sir..." Were the marine's last words before he fell to the deck. Behind him was a distortion of light, spattered with blood. The shimmer past and there stood a brown-black elite. He roared, and reset his fighting stance - legs apart, his sword arm elbow at a ninety degree angle, with his arm cocked back, ready to thrust. As he roared in triumph, another three elites of the same coloration emerged from their own camouflage, emitted a sound as if to laugh at the humans. There was a short stand off, before Barker opened fire, although surrounded. The elite's were not likely to take them as prisoners so he may as well try and kill them. The elite took several bullets to the side of the chest, were a human's heart would be. The elite cried out in pain as it's purple blood soiled the already bloodied deck even further. This was much to Barker's surprise as elite's usually had energy shields, but just then the wounded elite activated his. A white electric looking field shimmered over the elite, and then settled, you would no longer be able to tell it was shielded. Barker sprinted to a nearby crate and took out two plasma pistols, he charged one up and fired it at the elite, the green bolt sizzled through the air, but the elite rolled out from it's trajectory, but only barely. At this point the other elites began their attack on the others also. As the pistol cooled off, barker fired the other pistol repeatedly, several bolts managed to land on the elite, it's shields flared up, but remained. The elite then came at him roaring angrily ready to kill.

Alex and his men immediately opened fire on the elites, keep their distance any way possible, to avoid the chance of being killed or seriously wounded by the deadly energy swords. Alex seemed enraged at the death of one of the marines; even the life of a soldier from some other leader's squad was something he had to protect, in his eyes, and any fallen soldier deserved a PROPER revenge. He roared angrily and picked up the nearest covenant weapon he could find, focusing his fire on the elite nearest to him, determined to get its shields down quickly so he could personally crush its skull in...figuratively speaking, since even trying to get close to an elite with a sword was the dictionary meaning of "suicide". It seemed he was in his element, now, being a specialist in covenant weaponry meant he felt most confident with a plasma weapon in hand.

Lix had peeked out from behind her hiding place when she'd heard her squadmates screams, and for a moment she'd frozen stiff. Then, furiously shaking her head she'd leaped out of cover, firing her weapon at the leader of the elites who advanced on her captain. "Hey squid face!" she yelled as she advanced confidently, still firing a hail of bullets towards the alien, "Yeah that's right, you ugly bastard!" she continued to goad as the creature was forced to look her way, its shields under too much threat from her attack for it to continue focusing on Barker. It roared defiantly at her, brandishing its energy sword as if to remind her that it was better armed, and better protected. By now she was quite close - intentionally so. The alien lunged, and she sidestepped, the blow coming so close she could literally feel the heat from the sword as it rushed past. So began her dangerous game of cat and mouse. At first it looked like she was just an idiot, but as the elite continued to attack her, she was maneuvering it into a position that Barker had an advantage. She fired whenever she felt she could do so without inhibiting her ability to dodge the next blow. Each time she was barely anticipating the attacks, dodging them literally by the skin of her teeth.

Leo reloaded his DMR and turned to see Lix almost dancing with an Elite. Out of nowhere, another Elite appeared next to him and kicked the Marine in the chest. Leo sailed through the air and slammed into a column, yelling out in pain as he hit the floor. Struggling to his hands and knees, he looked over to where he was only to see the Elites boot coming at him again. Leo hit the column again, this time rolling away from it. The adrenaline kicked in and Leo got incredibly pissed off. Before the Elite could hit him again, he shot to his feet and faced his enemy.
Focusing on the alien through the red haze, Leo fired at the weak points on the Elites body; knees, shoulders, head. The Elites shield glowed with the shots it took, but didn't break by the time it had reached Leo. It slashed forward with its Energy Sword, but never connected with the Marine. Leo had rolled to the side into a crouched position, firing at the side of the Elites head. The shield broke, but before Leo could place the final round, the Elite kicked out to the side at his rifle. The force of the kick bent the DMR and threw Leo to the ground with a dislocated wrist. He roared with agony as he tried to reach a weapon, but the Elite reached down, lifted him up and roared at him. 'You ugly split-jawed bloody...' Leo groaned through his pain. The Elite chuckled and activated the Energy Dagger in its armour. As it brought its arm back to impale him, Leo reached up and unsheathed his combat knife. In an instant, he plunged the knife into the Elites neck and twisted it as hard and fast as he could, killing it. They both fell to the ground, the Elite bleeding from the neck steadily. Leo, pain racking his body, shakily got to his feet and stumbled over to a fallen comrade to retrieve another rifle, as well as his dog-tags. Rifle and ammo acquired, Leo took up a position behind cover and separated from the main battle, knowing that he was largely useless until his wrist was fixed.

Barker realized what his lieutenant was trying to do and acted upon it. Once the elite showed it's back to Barker he sprinted for the it. He kicked the elite's left leg inward with all of his strength, so that it was forced to drop to it's knee. Barker took out his knife and planted into the elite's neck in several places. Surprisingly though the elite just roared in agony and got back to it's feet, purple blood streaming from it's neck and onto the deck, the elite went to attack but barker backed up, not able to do anything now, he was not really expecting such tenacity, even from an elite. The elite took four steps with it's sword ready to strike, but then fell dead. Fuck.
