Alex watched the two elites fall, and after a swift cheer to his allies, he dived for the nearest fallen elite, grabbing its sword and activating it just in time to turn and parry a slash from one of the split-jawed freaks. He half-bellowed, half-cackled maniacally and began to duel with with the alien, obviously enjoying this FAR too much, though it was clear his advantage lay in his lack of height compared to the elite and agility, as he was not so skilled with a blade. One of the other Helljumpers -the woman by the looks of it- then picked up a broken weapon from the floor and tossed it at the elite's head, calling out a rather foul-mouthed insult to the alien, which bellowed angrily, and foolishly split its attention between the pair. Between Scarlet's rifle and Alex's...newly-acquired sword, the elite began to fall behind and could no longer keep up its proper guard, completely vulnerable from behind. Axel then ran out from behind his cover, turning his weapon backward so the heavy butt of the weapon was facing his target. "OI PEABRAIN!" he hollered, the elite turning with a surprised growl, just in time for the weapon to collide with its face, making a rather loud crack and spattering the ODST's weapon with purple blood, before the alien hit the deck, eyes wide open from the sudden death. "HEAD'S UP!" the ODST taunted, as he turned his weapon back around to defend himself, returning his attention back to the rest of the fight.
It was becoming clear that this particular group of Helljumpers was less on the side of sane and more on the side of 'completely bat-shit mad', though not necessarily suicidally so, but also very close-knit and cooperative and certainly tactically sound in a firefight. Probably the most frightening combination imaginable in a soldier, especially one as well-equipped as a shock trooper.

Lix stood panting for a time after the elite fell, unable to believe she was actually still alive. She'd danced a dangerous dance with a hostile partner and walked away from it with all limbs attached - though not completely unscathed.
"Don't.... let me do that... again..." she wheezed, wincing as she nursed a light cut to her upper arm. The cut itself had been quarterized and so didn't bleed, but the flesh and cloth around it was also rather burnt.
She took a moment to suck in deep breaths, before she straightened and leveled her rifle again.

Leo stepped out from behind cover, running a makeshift bandage over a makeshift splint to hold his wrist and forearm more or less in place. As he approached, he saluted Barker painfully. 'Not too sure how useful I'll be with this broken wrist, sir. I'll stick it out. Give you support however I can.' He turned and saw Lix's burn and smiled, despite the situation.
'I watched the end of that. Very nice. When will we get to dance like that?' He chuckled, then winced and hissed in pain, clutching his side.

Knowing that his lieutenant would not want the attention, also know that she was fine, he ordered everyone to form up. "Shut up. On me."

He led them through where the elites had come from which led to a corridor snaking to the right, and then to the left. Every now and again they would come across small circle rooms connected to the corridors with pillars in the middle. Barker had no idea what they were.
"We need to figure out a way to destroy this thing, AND get out alive. Ideas?" Barker looked around checking for enemies with they had their little 'team meeting'

Everyone in Alex's squad -more or less- folded their arms and either glanced to each other and shrugged, or paused in a pensive silence. The only one who stayed completely motionless was the ever-silent commander, who only moved to look at Alex when he glanced back at his superior. A few gestures of silent conversation were exchanged and the Sergeant turned back to Barker. "If we find one of the hanger bays on either side of the ship, we could use what explosives we have to set off a bigger detonation, same would work for if we were to find one of their weapons storage bays. As for getting out...beats me, sir" he shrugged, seeming thoughtful. "finding a hangar bay would be the more convenient option...one way or another the bay doors would be a quick way out, problem would be finding a means of getting out without having to end up pancaked at the bottom..." he remarked, glancing around at Barker's men as if for any input. "it's a long and dangerous way down unless you have a means of slowing the fall or taking the impact for you."

The rookie of the group spoke up then, offering a nervous laugh. "yeah, I don't think we feel like being the city's new paint-job, thanks, boss" Alex just -presumably- rolled his eyes at the kid from behind the opaque visor of his helmet, not that anyone saw the gesture.

"We could leave Leo here to detonate the bomb?" Lix offered off-handedly, shrugging. "I think that's a win-win situation from every angle."
The marine standing nearest her cuffed her over the ear, though he was laughing softly.

[Elario Luminus]

Shifting his weight uncomfortably and painfully, he glared at Lix. "Just cause I'm injured doesn't mean I'm useless. So you'll excuse me if I'm not all for that idea." He bit back another roaring wave of pain through his ribcage. Looking around, he had an inspiration and limped over towards one of the pillars. Going over it, he saw that a light slid from the bottom to the top, and seemed to keep going. He had a thought; it wasn't a pillar at all.
"Sir, I think these are cables, not pillars. See how this light pulses from the ground up? I reckon it's an energy line, or something like that." He winced again as he took a step closer to the pillar and gestured to the pillar with his boot. "If we find out where they start, and where they end, I'd say we'd end up with a good idea of how to destroy the ship."

Barker was not about to take chances so he decided to do both.
"We will do both, cover all angles. Lix and Leo, find out what is feeding the cables, take Private Hammond with you." He then looked at the ODSTs. "Alex, you and your ODSTs find a hanger bay, find and secure a dropship and radio Command - " he suddenly realised they would not be able to radio command. "Gah, figure it out. Everyone else, on me I'll be headed for whatever the cable leads to."

Alex saluted Barker immediately and turned to his troops and commander. "you heard 'im ladies, let's move out and find ourselves a hanger bay!" he then turned to lead his troops away down a hallway, checking in his helmet which way was north and working out from that which way was the front of the covenant ship, as such he lead his troops towards the flanks of the craft, logic telling him that obviously the shuttle bays HAD to be towards the sides in order for there to be bay doors. They wound up rather lost in the halls for a while, before they ran into some Jackals in the halls that were headed down a corridor to their left, following close behind they were lead right to a primary corridor (Alex guessed as much given how much wider it was than the others), they then snuck around the next corner and headed down the only path available.

First they found a large room that was mostly empty, though emptied out weapons crates littered the walls and corners, suggesting perhaps it was a preparation room or storage room of sorts, they went back to the main hall and tried the next door along, finding themselves traveling some winding empty corridors before they found themselves in an open room, with covenant Spirit drop ships docked high above their heads, some just returned and still humming slightly and others unused for at least a few hours and sitting still and silent in their places.
"bingo...now how to get up there's the only problem." Axel mused, turning to their commander, who jerked their head to a partitioning platform in the middle of the room.
"Perhaps there is a way to get to the upper floors from here?" Scarlet clarified, the commander nodding that yes that was what they meant.

((Hey Yuffie, I'm happy to assume command of my character from your squad after your next post, so perhaps leave an opening for me to do so, mmkay?))

Lix sputtered in protest when Barker told her to accompany Leo. The LAST person she wanted to be teamed up with was HIM. She knew she'd just get in trouble if she argued, so she grumbled to herself as she moved to join Leo by the cable.
"Come on you two layabouts," she snapped, urging Hammond to follow her. 'The cable goes up to the next floor, so we're going up."

Leo gathered himself from the pain as best he could and began jogging up the hallway going away from the cable. He could feel himself weakening every few steps, but he pushed on regardless. As he came to what looked like a door, he leaned against the wall and took a stim-pack from his backpack. Rolling up a sleeve, he jammed the device into his arm and pumped the release, sighing as the chemicals relieved him of the pain for a short while. Edging towards the door, Leo pressed the stock of his rifle into the shoulder, tensing up for any immediate action he and his comrades might need to take.
