John became serious. "Actually" he said sheepishly, "I would much prefer it. I have actualy put the both of you in danger by bringing you under my protection" he looked guilty, as if he now had a little regret about something.

[I'm guessing most people would have some other colours, ha? That must be confusing her i guess.... considering he's nothing but black]

Kai remained quiet as usual, unable to do anything else. But finally the tension she felt in John's presence got the most of her and she fled to their room, ducking her head in apology as she past John.
Mia raised an eyebrow, eyes turning back to John.
"She can be a bit funny at times...."

Simone was sitting back on top of Leo, engrossed in her cartoon.
John nodded to Mai. "It's fine. But, hopefully you don't mind me asking... what just happened?" he looked out the door in a confused manner.

Mia sighed and tilted her head slightly, looking over at Simone.
"I suppose she's a little uncomfortable... but she hasn't had the chance to tell me what's really bugging her."
Deep down she knew some of the problem was probably Simone, but it wasn't really her fault.
"Kai sees things in people a lot of others don't... their light bodies for example... she's good at judging good people from bad.... most of the time."

John was a little taken, "She can see people's auras?" he looked back over to where she had dissapeared off to. "that's interesting" he grimaceed, knowing excactly what she had meant now. "If it's any consolation... could you please tell your friend that i am not evil... or sick?" he tightened his hair, whih was coming out.

"Oh so you're the black one." Mia smiled a little "She spoke of you often. She knows that, but that's what has her vexed. You're neither ill nor sinister yet you have no other colours in your aura." Mia's eyes wondered towards Kai's closed bed room door.
"But i don't think it's you that bugs her the most."

[Sparkles]

John didn't comment on the aura again. Mainly because he knew why he would look like that. And, despite himself, he was completely glad that there were no other colours. If there had been, he may have had to change quite a bit of his lifestyle.
"Oh?" he made sure that Simone was not watching.
Sure enough, she was still engrossed.
"Please?" he gestured to a table; sitting down in a seat himself.

Mia looked a little nervous ever so briefly, not because of his gesture, but because she couldn't decide whether she should or shouldn't tell this man all that had happened to Kai... especially not in the presence of a young girl. But then she decided this man deserved to know why he'd had to save Kai from someone.... because this wasn't the first time.
She took the offered seat and checked back at Simone before she returned her gaze to John.
"It'll be easier if you ask questions... rather then me just telling you... i might forget something important." Her eyes flicked to Kai's closed door and she kept her voice hushed

John nodded, "I understand. But please don't feel obliated to answer them if you don't feel comfortable" he thought for a moment. "Firstly, would it be alright if I asked you why that man was trying to harm her?... then I would like to tell you something. And if you have questions yourself..." he let his words sink in, "I may not be able to answer them all, but i would try my best"

Mia leaned her head on her elbow which rested on the table and frowned.
"He's been after Kai for as long as i remember... we met in high school." She frowned as she tried to recollect the first run in they'd had with Kai's assailant.
"From what i remember it was night and we were coming back from a nightclub or some party or something... we were walking along just fine until we heard a gun shot and Kai collapsed. She nearly died while being rushed to hospital and was in IC for a month... but she pulled through OK." Mia smiled at the thought.
"He struck several times over the next few years... taking something precious from Kai each time and making it look like an accident every time. We don't know why though... Kai didn't recognise him and she's never been a bad person."

John kept a poker face. "What did he take from her first? And does he attack at random intervals?... or at certain times?"
Leo started quietly quoting the cartoon, and Simone laughed at the faces he was making; trying to look like the characters.

Mia bit her lip, hazardous to answer the question because of just how touchy the issue was.
"He attacks at random, though mostly attacks when Kai is alone." She carefully avoided his first question.... for now. She'd perhaps answer if he brought up Kai's aversion to simone.

Not being around since the morning, John had not caught Kai's aversion his daughter. He did notice Mia, however, avoiding his question. He did not pursue it. "I see..." he watched Mai for a few silent moments. "Please? May I talk to you in private? I will leave the decision to you whether you wish to inform your friend of what I am about to tell you."
He could see, feel what she was. His openess would be because of this knowledge. Incase she didn't realise that he knew, he gave her a small smile, "You are what you are" he said.

Mia raised an eyebrow and gave a small smirk.
"You can talk to me in private of course. You saved my best friend's life, i'm indebted to you." She then quirked her eyebrow some more and leaned in closer.
"And just what am i?" She asked, probing to see if he really knew, or was just bluffing to get info out of her.

"A Shaman" he said casually, sanding up and leading the way down the hall and into his office. He sat behind his desk and shoved the papers aside. Many of them fell to the floor, with about half of the rest of the room's contents.
