Kai shook her head quickly, looking eager to know more.
What are you here for? And please.... why did you go out of your way to save me? I really am not anyone that important too someone like you... surely? She slid down the doorframe to sit cross legged on the floor in the doorway.

Mai was not dissuaded by the odd disappearance of their informants... in fact the moment Bai returned Mai commando crawled forward to put her head in his lap, whining a little to try and get another scratch.

John shook his head. 'Firstly, I am here for Simone. When she is old enough to travel to the Celestial Plane, then I will take her with me, and raise her. But until then... The demon king can not kill me. I will die, and then come back. But, if he were to take Simone... If he were to threaten her life... then he would have me." he actually looked paned, even though he was frozen over, everytime he used this speech. "And The Demon that is after you" he added, continuing as if he had not just had a weak moment, 'He killed someone that I cared for. I will kill him. I will take from him, what he has taken from me.' then, the hesitation, 'I had a mind connection with you when you were in the tavern... it held out until later that night, because I had found the connection with 122. I heard you call...'
John's 'voice' softened, 'I thought that I could get him, but he sensed me coming, and left... I am glad now, to see that he did no more damage'

Bai Hu smirked and gave a purposeful glance up at John. Of coarse, she wouldn't be able to reply by thought, but he could still speak to her without being caught out.
'I have been ordered not to lay another finger on you' the tiger grinned. And then, suddenly,, he was a tiger again. He law down low enough that only his back fur was visable to John.

Mai wolf grinned and edged closer again, her tongue popping about to lap at the area between his ears.
By all means... lay them all on me... She gave a mental chuckle and rolled onto her back.

Kai however had begun to break a little... she could feel the sadness welling up to overwhelm her.
He... he took something from me too.... he... She stopped, raising a hand to brace her forehead as she slumped a little near the door.
She took a deep shuddering breath as she tried to calm herself down.
He took my little girl.... Kai's eyes wondered over to where Simone seemed to be dozing. Her eyes then snapped back to John abruptly, fury embedded in all her features.
I want him destroyed not dead.... no punishment or death he could have would be enough... A tear escaped from beneath her glasses.
I wish he had just killed me... instead of making me suffer so much... all i have left is Mai...

'Killing a demon, they do not come back. They are destroyed. If I was to revert to my True Form, I would be able to destroy him with little effort. But, I can not. I am drained, staying in this form. If I turn now, I will not be able to come back. And I will be gone for a very long time when I do leave. I do not have much longer... maybe three years... then, i could take from 6 months, to a hundred years to be able to gain enough energy again to control True Form... by then, Simone would be dead. This is why I train her now; so that when I do leave, Bai Hu and the other celestials can raise her... without me.. if i don't come back quick enough'
he didn't know why he was telling her this, but suddenly urgency entered his tone. 'Do not tell this to Simone. She does not know. I do intend to tell her, but not now. Not yet.

Bai Hu chuckled. 'He is the Dark Lord. Unfortunately... I can't defy him' the tiger smirked, 'But, now I think about it, he did only specify my fingers' He ran his claws down the line of her stomach, looking at her very, very curiously to see her reaction.

Kai nodded, showing her understanding, her eyes travelling to look at Simone once more.
I have a question... She began silently. Is it possible... well... more accurately i need to know WHY... but.... my little girl, Natalya... there was no father... i was like... the next virgin Mary or something, i have birth to her, she was my child... but i never had a lover or a husband... It had always confused her, but she'd never question fate, until now.

Mai murred gently, batting gently at the tiger's nose as he ran a claw along her belly.
She wasn't subtle when it came to what she wanted... and a tiger was very appealing.
What other animals do you like? She asked with a cheaky wolfish grin.

Bai Hu grabbed one of her paws gently in his mouth as she batted at his nose. She would be able to feel his teeth, while he remained harmless. 'Many' he replied.
He then sat up and looked at Xuan; his expression changing to serious respect. He bowed low to the ground, "By your leave, Dark Lord, Xuan Wu"
"Yes" John nodded. They had a understanding.
The tiger disappeared.

"I do not know, Kai. I suspect you may have, but you may not remember it - but that is a guess" He bent down ad cradled Simone up into his arms, and then set about putting her back to bed.
"Daddy?"
"Yes? I'm here"
"Can-" she gave an exhausted yawn and let the sleep take her, not able to finish her sentence.

'You can both go back to sleep now if you wish to. If you have more questions then feel free to ask them. But not here; Simone has to have a good sleep. We leave for Paris on Sunday, and if it's anything like every other time, she won't sleep' He carfully got off of the bed and left the room. He held the door open for the two of them.
'OH! I can't believe I almost forgot to mention it. I'm also the god... or, at least that's the closest European word i can find... I am the.. god, of Martial Arts. It is my essence.' he said, in a very dignified manner.

"Kudos to you then." Mai said in a playful way as she sprung to her feet and left the room before Kai did. She was a little vexed about the sudden departure of the tiger man, he was quite the gentleman.
She ran back in to their room and leaped up on the bed to curl up on her side.

Kai however stalled behind.
Alright.... She 'said' pausing briefly I'm not that forgetful though... She then readjusted her sunglasses and left , back to their room.
She laid down beside Mai and scratched her ears gently, but she could not sleep again now.

[gentleman? *laughs outright* Yup *sobers up* whatever you say]

'I am not indicating you are forgetful, Kai. You could have been forced to forget" In fact, he did have a guess to what it may have been, but he was not going to tell her. She'd had enough for now. John gently closed the door and went into his office.

"Do you want me to sing Kai?" Mai asked, sitting up on the bed and tilting her large wedged canine head so that one ear flopped. She hardly looked like the ferocious wolf she was supposed to be, but she could be when she wanted too.

Kai shook her head slowly, quite aware that if she thought anything and directed it, Mai would hear, she just didn't feel much like talking anymore.
With a sigh she rolled over, hugging a pillow between her knees.

The morning came. Simone, like normal, was up before everyone else. 'How do I know?' you ask... well, Micheal letting out a "Go away would you, school's not for another 2 hours"
And Simone's reply, "I want to go to the sweet shop before we go."
He groaned, "That adds, what, ten minute to the timer? Now rack of kid" he pulled the pillow over his head after turning over onto his stomach.
"Don't you call me 'kid!'"
"Fine then. Rack off, princess" he emphasised 'princess' with heavy sarcasm.
It was easy to note that Simone would have put her hands on her hips, "Well I am, you know"
"Yeah, whatever, and according to dad i'm a prince... in fact, there are hundreds of princes... now, rack o-"
"Micheal!" Leo.

Kai smiled from her position on her bed. She ran a hand gently through Mai's long black fur as she listened to the sounds around her. Despite being 'gods' or whatever... they still held the same normal family traits that Kai had long craved for.

Mai slept on, undisturbed.

Soon, Simone was marching down the hallways and turned into the kitchen.
Leo joined her shortly after. Micheal murmered a short 'sorry' as he walked by and plonked himself down on the couch. He ran a hand through his blond hair and looked around the table in front of his for something.
"Monica?" Leo called.
Monica appeared out of the kitchen and walked over to Leo, "Yes?"
Leo whispered something to her, cupping his hands around his mouth, over her ear so that neither of them heard.
Monica nodded and gave a small chuckle. Simone played with her cheerios in her bowl, swimming with milk. These were actually Micheal's. Not hers, but he'd dared her last week to eat a whole bowl of them. She never turned down a dare. She got some into her spoon and started eating them.

"Do you want to go the the park today, Simone? Your daddy can come today" Leo smiled, knowing what was coming, but playing up to it.
"You sure are up early today Micheal... You usually sleep in on Saturdays" Monica said from the kitchen, where she was preparing breakfast for everyone else.
"Saturday?..." then it clicked, and he shrunk down into the couch. "This is shit."
"What?" Leo growled
"It's ok Leo, I know that word" Simone said matter-of-factly
"Do not say that around The Dark Lord. He will have you for it" then he got his breakfast, and that was that. End of convosation.

A black wolf padded into the kitchen, plonking itself in the doorway and greeting everyone with an energetic bark before it rippled and changed into the same fetching indian woman who'd held their company the day before.
"Mornin' people." She said with a smile and a wave.
"Kai's bein' lazy... she won't be out for a bit."

"Least someone knows a sane time to wake up in this household." Micheal mumbled.
Leo ignored him, staring at Mai, his mouth gaping.
Simone jumped up from her breakfast and ran around the table to give Mai a hug. "Mai's a wolf, Leo" she said happily, letting go of the shaman and turning to Leo. "She's like Uncle Bai" she stated, holding onto Mai's hand and taking her over to the table, "Sit next to me?" she asked enthusiastically.
Leo must have realised that his mouth was open, and promptly closed it, remaining silent, his eyes wide.

Micheal turned around in his sea and eyed the three of the suspiciously before figuring that Simone was talking about wierd stuf again, and went back to dozing.

Mai accepted Simone's offer and took a seat beside her, giving a small laugh at Leo's expression.
"Actually Simone... i can be a lot of things... want me to show you?" She asked, tilting her head and giving a mischievous smile.

Kai meanwhile was sitting again at the desk. She was drawing again, but this time the drawing was of something significant... from time to time Kai would have a dream that was so real it frightened her, and in order to make it stop she had to draw it.. and that's what she was doing. Mai had brought her sketch book and again she drew the scene, another strange circumstance which she placed alongside all the others in her expert sketching.
