Thunder boomed above their heads, rain washed over their eyes creating darkness in the already darkened battle field. Movement was difficult, the ground beneath them was no long the lush green fields they once were, now they were muddied with the blood of innocence, and dirt from enemy soil. The war was not over yet, but an end could be seen, through the massacre of bodies the angelic ray of hope was in reach, the enemy was being taken away by the flooding water carrying with it bodies of the dead. An end was in sight.
Aloysius stood guarding his prince, fending off an onslaught of greecian soldiers at the front line of the battle, the roman captain fought vigorously to defend the future monarch. As Damitrious slipped on the unseen ground beneath their feet Aloysius was pushed into the blade of his opponents sword, luckily it was only a flesh wound and gave Aloysius the chance to run the man through. Taking delight in watching the Greek slide off of his sword he muttered under his breath, vomitious scum, as he was locked in battle with another solider he quickly dispersed of him. Looking around he saw the prince surrounded by enemy ranks, some defending off the roman army and others attacking the prince. Sloshing through the mud as fast as he was able Aloysius watched the prince fall in defeat, holding his sword high he charged forward into the group who quickly realised that their numbers had failed them and fell before the might of Rome. Kneeling down Aloysius look to the sword protruding from the princes abdomen, "Damitrious! Stay with me" He could see the prince was fast fading, gasping for air through the torrential rain, "Tell..te..." pausing the prince coughed up blood "..tell Eliah I love her.....Ishall met her in heaven..." As he coughed up more and more blood, troops around them removed their helmets as he drew the last breath.

Kneeling in pray to the gods, Eliah bowed her head as the chant echoed through the marble stone palace and through every well-being safe within roman walls. Her eyes closed softly as the priests finished their morning pledge for good health and safe future. Silent for a moment so the rest of the romans royality and noble men left the room, their wifes of many trailing behind them. Eliah dropped the light white hood off her copper brown hair as she wondered from the hall out to a small balcony looking out towards the large city of Rome. Holding onto the collum with one hand, she watched the water at the horizon waiting for any sign. Sighing at the empty ocean, Eliah stood there with the pure satin dress of white lightly touching the marble floors. "Are you ever going to come back for me?" opening her hand to look upon the small goldern lined broach she followed the simply decorated roman engravings with the tips of her fingers.

The battle had been won, but the princes life had been lost, no victory feast would welcome the army home, mourning had decended over the ranks and hung over them like the clouds that covered the battle field.
Leading the processional march into the city, the men were silent, with their heads bowed as if being defeated. Looking down the road that lead to the palace, Aloysius could see the dear departed princes lady, Eliah. It was his task to break the news to her, one that he was not looking forward to. When reaching the palace steps Aloysius dismounted his steed, and tucked his helment beneath his arm, sighing deeply he walked up the steps and into the entrance hall through open doors.

Eliah jumped at the sound of cheering from the enterence into the city and she soon became concerned when the cheers soon became silent. Rushing down the winding stairs of the palace she went to go greet her prince. wantiong to be the first to she her love she took a few shortcuts to arrive at the door, the roman ruler and his many sons were coming from far down the hall when Eliah rushed from the stairs. One of the lady's that waited on Eliah gently grabbed her by the arm to pull her beside her. "it's best you stay here" Calming a bit Eliah waited for her prince to walk through the doors in victory but only saw the captian.

Seeing Eliah rush down the stairs, no doubt expecting to see the prince, made the captains heart drop. Bowing quickly to the Royals he went immediately over to the Emporer to inform him of the victory, and subsequent death of his first born son, the empress was beside herself with grief and collapsed into a heap on the ground hollering in despair, as her sons all knelt down to comfort her, Aloysius bowed sharly to the royal party and walked over to Eliah who had been waiting by the stairs. "Lady Eliah, I regret to inform you that your intended, the prince Damitrious, died in combat two days past." Barely able to get the words out, he watched her face change.

Seeing the empress drop didn't give any hope to Eliah, this was all too fast but when the Captian came to speak with her, she shook her head. "no that's not true.. your lying to me" She didn't want to look at the man, turning to face the door again that the light shun through she put her hand to her heart before yelling at the man. "you cant do this! You were apost to be protecting him! He's lying to me." She was in hysterics trying to take a swipe at the Captian before being pulled away by the lady holding her. Crashing to the ground in tears she let out a devestating scream of grief and sorrow. Kneeling on the ground with her lady beside her. He was apost to come back and marry me The emporier and empress had taken their leave imdediatly to grieve alone over their lost son and prepare for his sending to the gods. Eliah was still in shock and dispair upon the enterance floors.

Aloysius stood there and allowed the lady to release her rage, griefe, sorrow and sadness upon himself, he deserved it, she was right in saying it was his fault. The scream she released was like a thousand knives to his person, each one inflicting pain he deserved, "You are right lady, I take full responsibility, the young prince was under my care, I failed all in my duty" Bowing his head in remorse hearing her torturing wails resound in his mind.

Eliah had been taken up to her chambers within the western end of the palace to morn. He heart ached and burned inside as she was left alone within her soul without him there. She knew that he shouldn't of gone, she told him but he didn't listen. And she trusted Aloysius to take care of him and he delievered her a body with no life. Her marriage to romans first born was to be cancelled and the fear of what she had in the future for her was unaware. For she had to marry, and since already being accepted into the empires family for the future empress she was scared. Standing still as she continued to look out her window, not wanting to let this be true.

Exiting the palace as Eliah left, Aloysius went to find some peace or serenity in the gardens, walking through the winding paths he scolded himself for not being by the princes side, it had been his designanted job to watch over his safety, he had neglected his duty and in his own eyes was an embrassment to the roman army and the might of Rome. Standing infront of the fountain he saw before him the battle seen and could no longer look into the water, sitting on the egde he held his face in his hands.

Placing the broach at the place of her heart, Eliah could feel the breeze circle her and send off towards the below gardens. Pushing her copper hair out of her eyes she noted a figure near the fountains. Looking into the sky she could see the white clouds hide the brightness of the sun upon Rome on this dark day. Angered she snuck out under her light cloak towards the gardens, the pain still making her stop at corners to release her tears again.
Appearing from behind the crystal water fountain, Eliah looked at Aloysius as he held his hea din his hands. "Tell me what happen" She demanded "I want to know what happened"

At the sound of Eliah's voice, Aloysius shot to his feet, "Of course lady" Bowing deeply to her in respect he dipped his head to tell the sad tale, "Damitrious had been surrounded by greecian solider while I was abset, there was 4 attacking him within a circle surrounded by other greeks who defended the inner circle, though your he fought on Damitrious was out number" He was not proud to say the truth, but Eliah had the right to hear the truth as she entrusted the prince with him.

Eliah stayed where she was, a good distance away from the man. "And where were you? " Tears began to form again in her eyes, though strong in her question. Doubting that her prince can fall to a few greeks caused her to think otherwise. "Perhaps you tell me nothing of the truth, for i could not see him fall so easily. and you wont take that away from him" Eliah had always watched Damitrious train, and he was the greatest warrior she had ever come across. Quick with the blade and gentle with his hand. His pride and honour was not going to be thrown away by this.

Allowing her accusing tone to bite deep into his skin, he let the feelings fester, "I was not near him where I should of been, though his skills with a sword were far superior than those against him, the conditions on the field brought in by the rain were not favouring." Clenching his hands into fists he regretted not being at the princes side where he was needed, "The princes death falls upon my shoulders"

Walking around the fountain as Aloysius spoke she walked right up to him and looked him straight in the eyes. "And you shall rot under the gods wrath, for others may forgive you but i shall not" Eliah stared at the man for a while before backing away to return back to the castle. " I shall leave you to mourn"
