Zack didn't LIKE the idea of Aerith poking and prodding his wounds in order to extract the bullets that had caused them, but he knew that if she didn't remove them they'd cause him no end of trouble, blood poisoning being the thing he had to worry about the LEAST.
He grit his teeth firmly as she began to press on his badly injured chest, trying to work the bullet from the wound. As the pain worsened he gripped the floorboards tightly in his gloved fingers, sweat beads rolling down his face as he fought back the urge to cry out.
He eventually lost control of his tongue and a cry of agony broke from his lips but he did not beg for her to stop, he simply clamped his jaw harder, his eyes closed as he fought to keep his consciousness through the searing pain.

As the bullet reached the surface of the wound, Aerith quickly and carefully pulled it away. There was a small metallic clink as it bounced off the wooden floor. Within a moment, Aerith was cradling Zack's head again, supporting him so he could remain upright and looking distressed at the idea that she was physically tormenting him.
"I'm sorry!" she said, wincing.

Zack sagged into Aerith's grasp a little, his head spinning as he recovered, the pain having ebbed back to a painful throb instead of constant blazing agony.
"It's... alright." He panted when he finally found his breath, the sweat still streaking his recently cleaned face, "I know there's.... no easier way to do this."

Aerith bit her lip, holding Zack a little closer to her to comfort him.
"Do you... want me to continue?" she asked, stroking his cheek, eyes worried..
She really didn't want to put him through the same agonising pain over and over again, but at the same time, knew he'd probably be better off in the long run.

Zack nodded, slowly sitting back again, leaning all his dead weight on the sword that had been erected to support him.
"Only if you don't have anything you'd rather be doing." He said with a tired sigh, "I'm sure i'd be fine..."
Cloud had moved forward from his hiding place inconspicuously and picked up the bullet Aerith had removed from Zack. He'd then recoiled back into his corner and sat down, hugging the blanket he'd been given closely around himself, eyes locked on the tiny metal death device.

Aerith's eyes were soft as she watched him.
"Trust me Zack, there are plenty of things I'd rather be doing than torturing you like this."
She wiped some of the sweat from his brow.
"But if it's going to help you get better, then I'll do it."
She glanced to Cloud as he came forward briefly then retreated, before looking back to Zack again.
"Do you want anything first? There's still a little light left, and I have some gil from the flowers. Maybe I can see if I can find something to take the edge off," she offered gently.

Zack smiled happily when she mentioned having Gil from selling her flowers, it brought him joy to learn that it was paying off for her.
"Don't go wasting your hard earned Gil on me--" He began with a crooked smile, but it was Cloud who interrupted him.
"He gave me all the water..." He began, his voice trailing off. His meaning was lost in his incoherent muttering as it seemed his confidence in what he was saying was lost.

Aerith was about to shake her head, and tell Zack that it was thanks to him that she was even selling the flowers, when Cloud interrupted. She looked confused by the boy's words.
"What is he talking about?" she asked Zack quietly.

Zack blinked at Cloud for a moment or two, the blond boy seeming rather sheepish, as he avoided their gaze completely, a light blush in his cheeks.
"I think..." Zack speculated with a chuckle, "He's suggesting i need something to drink...." He took on a suddenly sheepish expression that was characteristic of Zack.
"I just realised i haven't drank anything since Gongaga... I kept giving all of the water to him." He shook his head at himself, also silently remembering he hadn't EATEN since then either... yet he was neither thirsty nor hungry.

Aerith's stubborn look entered her eyes and she got to her feet quickly.
"Then it's settled," she said, tone showing there would be no changing her mind.
"I'll be back in a few minutes. Just take it easy until then."
She looked up to Cloud, giving him a smile. She owed him one for dobbing Zack in. xD

Zack also looked over to Cloud, feigning a punch in his direction.
"Just you wait man. Once i'm back up to speed i'm gonna kick your sorry ass for that." He chuckled and leaned back against the sword, content to wait for Aerith to return.
Cloud blushed heavier when Zack jokingly reprimanded him, he then turned his blue eyes to Aerith, giving her a timid, faltering half smile as she left.

It was dark by the time Aerith returned back to the Church, several paper bags of groceries bundled in her arms. She placed the bags on the ground near Zack's sword, rummaging through them to sort food and drink from medical supplies.
"It's not exactly going to be a gourmet meal, but hopefully it'll do."
She looked up, eyes seeking Zack.
"I probably should have considered cleaning up before a left..." she said with a smile, referring to her blood-speckled dress. "I had a few concerned looks from the few people that were still out."

Cloud was fast asleep in his corner when Aerith arrived, and Zack had slipped into his usual state of alert sleep. Waking the moment he heard the church door open, bleary blue eyes seeking out the pink clad angel in the dark.
"Sorry if i get you into trouble... some people saw me on the way in... so i might clarify things around here when i'm up and about..." He was still worried about Aerith's safety, but he figured Shinra would never think to look for him right under their noses.
((I was thinking, the Turks watch over Aerith, and they were on Zack's side of things. So perhaps when they realise he's back, they'll cover for him?))

((Lol, I was thinking that too... and also, because Tseng has sorta developed feelings for Aerith, maybe that could cause a little bit of awkwardness between old friends... >.>))
Aerith smiled to Zack, bringing a drink and some of the food over to him.
"It's okay Zack, I think we can get by for now."
She glanced to Cloud.
"Should I wake him?" she asked.

Zack took the drink from Aerith with a smile of thanks, and it was only as he took one small sip that he realised how thirsty he really was. He took a few more sips and then lowered his hand to rest for a while, holding the limb up was tiring on his low energy.
He glanced over at Cloud when Aerith questioned him, and after a moment of thought he shook his head.
"Maybe we should let him sleep... i don't know... he hasn't eaten in a while..."
