Aether blinked slightly, looking utterly confused. "I get the feeling... its not to do with this recent dilemma?" He kept his voice gentle, and slowly approached Delilah, fearing he'd accidentally hit a sore nerve.

Silently, a tear slipped down Delilah's cheek. She shook her head slightly, still looking down. She paused. "The Gardens closed six years ago..." she said very quietly.

The tear did not fall unnoticed, an angels eye was keen, and he was tuned with emotions of everything around him, he could feel her sorrow. "I am sorry..." Aether said, moving around in front of Delilah, his expression apologetic, "You do not have to say anything more if it hurts you."

Delilah hugged herself tightly. "... He was the most wonderful person. I never understood..."

Aether looked a little confused, but the dominant emotion on his face was sympathy. "Life is often hard to understand... but we're not expected to understand everything."

Another tear slipped down Delilah's cheek. "First Father, now Uncle... I guess my Mother wasn't so crazy, wanting to move away from it all..."

Without really thinking, a sort of affectionate response was triggered in Aether's heart. He stepped forward, wings and one arm enfolding her and drawing her into a hug. His free hand wiped at her tears. "Though it may be hard to accept, their deaths have caused change... change that may be, in the end, for the better." He offered her a soft, sympathetic smile. "Those that come before, build the safer path for the young to walk, no matter how their life may play out."

Delilah cried quietly, not really thinking it through as she sagged into his chest. She didn't know how to reply... She wasn't sure she could appreciate his logic as much as he did. But she still clung to the security his embrace gave her.

Aether was frustrated by his inability to view this distressing turn of events as anything except the logical progression of the universe. He'd cut himself off from the emotional 'what ifs' and 'whys'... even before he became an arc. So for the time being he remained silent, holding Delilah as she cried, sending warm caring emotions her way.

Even as Delilah calmed, it took a long time before her shame kicked in a she moved out of Aether's safe embrace with a blush colouring her cheeks once again. "I'm sorry," she said, wiping her eyes. "I was showing you the Gardens..." She turned a little as if to head to her next point.

Aether let Delilah go as she fled his arms, but he shook his head when she insisted that she was supposed to be showing him around. "The memories here are yours My Lady." He said gently, "I will let you enjoy them. You're safe enough in this garden... i will wait for you here. He smiled, "You came here for yourself, not to give me a tour."

Delilah paused a moment, before she nodded, moving out further into the Garden, toward a bed of lilacs. They had always been her favourite...

Aether waited obediently by the fountain, watching the ripples on the waters surface. He remembered now... everything. Or at least the parts worth remembering. His human life had been short and empty... nothing really worth remembering. He was not really surprised that he'd forgotten it. He began to wonder what the real beauty in memory was... whether it was a good thing that mortals had the gift of looking back at their lives and remembering its moments. Aether did not feel that need to reminisce. The memories he recalled now really seemed as though they were better left forgotten.

In one swift movement, Delilah had suddenly disappeared. She was safe though; with grace that would have been difficult to maintain in the dress she wore, she had lifted herself up into one of the large trees in the garden, climbing its branches silently to sit, sheltered by the boughs and leaves. It had been a habit she had carried since childhood - one her mother hated - but in the treetops, Delilah found it easiest to calm and relax...

Without really giving the motion any though, Aether laid down on the wall surrounding the fountains base, watching the clouds float over head and listening to the trickle of water. There he dropped into a meditative state, awaiting Delilah's return.
