[The Painted Lady]

Tidus squeezed Yuna's hand gently.
"I'll go grab some materials, okay?"

Aerith looked down, staying uncharacteristically quiet. Ashlynn's bright blue eyes darted between Zack and Aerith before she reached out for her father.
"Daddy?" she sniffed.

Zack eyes darted upwards the moment he heard his little girls voice, and in seconds he was gently taking her off of Cloud and hugging her against his chest.
"It's alright baby... what would you say if daddy and mummy... had to go away for a little while? Would you be happy to stay with Uncle Kunsel and Aunty Yuffie?" He swallowed thickly, hating the very idea of leaving his children without either of their parents.

Squall sighed and closed his eyes, while Rinoa leaned in against Squall's chest, shaking slightly. She never handled stress well. The Sorceress sent Aerith an apologetic look.
Squall, however, watched Zack with a grim look. He didn't want to tear them from their children, but that's what war does to you.

[Yuna Braska]

Yuan smiled and continued her way back to the beach. Other people on the Island didn't seem to have gotten really out of their homes, Besaid was too quite for any commotion. Yuna jumped form the rocks down to the sandy white beach, and sighed when she noticed the portal was still there. No one was on the beach, which Yuna was thankful of and everything was rather quite apart from the weird noise that the mysterious force was making. Yuna looked around one more time before approaching the portal. It reminded her of something familiar but she couldn't think of what. Her boots silently made a soft sound on the sand as she moved closer, the noise getting louder and she ventured nearer. The noise was like a running river, though the river had curled around and was just stuck in a loop. Though Yuna could hear something else amongst it, like distant whispers. Yuna leaned in a little closer, and so the noise got louder again.

Cloud let Zack take his daughter back, and stayed silent like the others, thinking why this was happening. But all Cloud could understand was that his services were needed once again, and Cloud was very reluctant to go, even though really he had no choice.

Ashlynn certainly didn't look happy. Her chin dropped and she started fiddling with Zack's pauldron strap. The unknowing on-looker may have started bracing themselves for a tantrum, but the twins had been raised to be selfless and well-behaved.
"If that's what Daddy wants..." she murmured.

Aerith looked up to Rinoa, catching her eye. She bit her lip and shook her head. It wasn't her fault. It wasn't anyone's fault. She just wished there was another way...
"Are you okay sweetie?" she asked Ynyr gently, turning back to him. He had been quiet for a long time now.

Tidus was a little nervous to see Yuna edging near to the portal when he returned with the first arm-load of posts.
"Be careful..." he warned.

Ynyr shifted in his mothers arms and hugged in close to her
"I not want mummy and daddy to go..." He sobbed slightly, burying his face in the pink fabric to which he clung, "But i will look after Ashie." He was so used to being told by his father to look after his sister that it came naturally.

Zack just fell silent and hugged Ashlynn tightly.
"Thankyou for being such a big girl Ashlynn." He finally said, stroking her hair.

Rinoa nodded back to Aerith, understanding. Squall, however, could feel another portal opening, and somehow knew that their next target was through said portal. Deciding not to say anything, the SeeD Commander watched Aerith's and Zack's tearful farewell to their children. Would the kids know that there's a chance they might not see their parents again? The thought tugged at Squall's heartstrings, and he kept quiet.

[Yuna Braska]

Yuna stepped back quickly a bit startled by Tidus's sudden appearance. The noise automatically quietened when she drew back to walk over to help Tidus with the posts, taking some from the load. " I'm always careful" Yuna said with a smile.

Cloud looked to Tifa as Zack and Aerith were saying their goodbyes, he couldn't watch them. He couldn't say goodbye to the children either, he was never good with goodbyes.
"Were a team right?" Cloud asked Tifa knowing that a team is what they are best at.

Aerith kissed Ynyr again, trying not to cry.
"Mummy loves you so much. You know that, right?"
There was no way she could do this this quickly. She looked up to the others.
"You guys... go ahead. We need to make sure everything is in order. We'll follow you once everything's alright, we promise."

"You're also strangely curious too," Tidus said.
"And that's the part that worries me."

[Tifa Lockhart]

Tifa leaned in to Cloud and smiled, trying to focus on him rather than the tearful goodbye that was occuring not far from them. "Yes, we are. Wherever you go, i go too." She tilted her head, red eyes glimmering.

Zack didn't wait for the others to answer Aerith, he just turned and headed back inside the house without another word. He had a phonecall to make... and some other affairs to get in order...

Yuna rolled her eyes and placed some of the logs near the portal, looking back up to the swirling circle before standing there to think for a moment. "What do you think is on the other side?" Yuna asked, her head tilting slightly.

Cloud nodded, him too trying not to watch the saddened faces of his best friends. Cloud looked to his bike thinking if he could bring it with him, though perhaps it would be best if he left it here and just grabbed his weapon from the pocket.

Tidus pointed.
"See?! That's the horrible curiosity I was talking about!" he said with what was hard to tell was mock or real horror.

Aerith sighed, turning to follow Zack back into the house, clutching Ynyr protectively.

Ashlynn was watching her father with wide mako-blue eyes.
"Daddy's sad, isn't he?" she whispered.

Zack sighed slightly once he was inside the house, squeezing his daughter as she spoke. "Just a little Ashie. Daddy doesn't want to leave you and Yn with Uncle Kunsel." He tried to put on a comic expression, "He's weird." Normally Zack was good at amusing his children, but he just wasn't really in it now.
