Aerith leaned over to kiss the forehead of the tiny child beside her, resting a hand very gently on his chest.
"Hello little one," she whispered.
"I'm sorry for everything I've put you through today..."

The tiny baby shifted slightly in his covers, showing that he recognised his mother's voice and touch, but he made no noise.
Then Zack's cell phone rung.
"Sorry," he apologised, hurriedly answering it. A smile immediately crossed his face.
"Calm down Cloud you don't need to drive down here and demand an explanation, everything's fine... No, i'm being honest, EVERYTHING is fine. Aerith is OK and the baby is doing fine. Kunsel? Yeah, he's stable too, though we're still waiting on more about that... yeah, thanks for looking after the twins, tell them I say Hi OK?"
Cloud was obviously throwing a flurry of rabid questions at his friend... he'd been very worried.

"Aerith says Hi... yeah I already told you she's fine... I'll get her to call you a bit later OK? Yeah... alright alright I'm sorry!" Zack laughed, shaking his head at his friends desperate ramblings on the other end of the phone. It was amusing to hear the generally stoic and silent blond trip over himself and sputter.
"Alright, see ya."
With that he hung up and turned to watch his wife and their new child. "Cloud wants you to call him a bit later."

Aerith laughed quietly, trying not to disturb her child.
"But he is my Little Fire," she smiled. "Even if he's only quietly smoldering for now."
She paused a moment, stroking her son's face gently.
"...You can chose his name, as long as I can pick his middle name."

Zack paused in his search and looked up at Aerith, a tender smile on his face.
"I like that..." he agreed. He watched her for a long moment, just thinking over everything that had happened... how close he'd come to losing three people he cared most about all in one moment.
"He's let himself get pretty bad huh?" he asked softly.

"He wouldn't have agreed," Zack said, looking back down at his phone to scroll through the names he was looking at. "He'll probably want out of here as soon as possible... it's why I asked Yuffie to come keep an eye on him..."
He sighed slightly, "I'm putting him on extended sick leave... he'll hate it, but he needs to go back to Wutai... the relaxing atmosphere there will be good for him."
