Tifa & Yuffie II

[Tifa Lockhart]

Miles sighed and bookmarked his page, setting his novel and glasses aside on the bedside table.
"Alright Phoenix. I'll settle down for the night," he quite clearly dodged committing himself to actual sleep. "Sorry for keeping you awake."
He leaned over to turn off the lamp, plunging their room into silence.

Phoenix knew Miles too well and figured that he would somehow dodge it, though he was too tired to bother thinking it through and discovering how. He shrugged and laid back down, not looking particularly worried about being kept up himself. "don't worry about it, it's fine" he said, brushing his fringe out of his face. He then fell into silence, pulling the covers up over his shoulders as he settled.

Miles sighed softly, rolling over to loop his arms around Phoenix's waist, kissing him lightly upon the neck. He then settled comfortably down beside him, enjoying the warmth, but he didn't actually go to sleep.

We can move on to the next dramatic storyline XD I think it's time for more illness, and seeing as Phoenix was both the last person to be sick AND the last person to be in peril, I think it's Miles' turn.))

((definitely Miles' turn and yes, we need more storyline so we will do that once we're done here XD we need to make a list of things we haven't done yet then we can keep going XD))

Phoenix knew Miles wasn't asleep but he was too tired to bother arguing and eventually just fell asleep anyway. In the other room, however, Cearan wasn't. By now it was getting to the point he couldn't sleep because his mind didn't want him to even if he was tired. He had tried sleeping but it hadn't worked and now he simply lay awake in his bed, staring absently out the window at the moon. 'hopefully I can get some sleep tomorrow...' he thought, not wanting to miss out on too much more sleep, lest he end up collapsing in class due to under rest.
After hours sitting awake Cearan's alarm buzzed for him to get up and prepare for school, so he sighed slightly, turned off the alarm and got up to go to his closet and get dressed. Just another day and likely another fight with another loser trying to get on his nerves...and succeeding.

By now Miles had moved out onto the couch, unable to get to sleep and conscious of waking Phoenix. He was reading over some papers, half-moon spectacles sitting sophisticatedly on the end of his nose. He looked up when he heard Cearan emerging.
"Good morning," he greeted softly.

Cearan looked up when he heard Miles and offered a brief wave. "oh, morning, Mr Edgeworth...did you sleep well?" he asked, as usual completely unaware that he had sat awake. He paused momentarily to listen to the prosecutor's reply before he disappeared into the kitchen to prepare himself for school and get his breakfast.

"No, not really," the prosecutor replied with his usual brutal honesty, dropping his papers so he could watch Cearan move into the kitchen over the top of them. The boy look completely exhausted.

"I see" Cearan wasn't that alarmed by the prosecutor saying he hadn't slept well, as he knew of his insomnia problems and figured that it was nothing more than that. He laughed slightly, then, before calling out to Edgeworth. "I'm assuming that since he's not up, Phoenix slept like a log, as always?" he joked, as he went about preparing for school.

"Well, no actually," Miles replied, his eyes had returned to the documents that he was perusing.
"He's still asleep because I inadvertently kept him awake most of the night."

"oh!" Cearan seemed a little surprised by that, as Phoenix was usually the best rested of all three of them. He went back to making his lunch then, finishing up with it and putting everything he had gotten out where it needed to go.

Miles sighed, realising that subtltey was never going to get him anywhere, he really should have known that anyway. He set aside his documents and stood, heading for the kitchen. As he stood in the doorway he removed his glasses and tucked them into his breast pocket. He then gave his fringe a flick before fixing the boy with his steely gaze.
"We just like to make sure you're sleeping alright."

Cearan flinched and turned to Edgeworth as he spoke. "you're losing sleep over me? come on, you don't need to do that, Mr Edgeworth, it's nothing I can't handle, really. I sleep just fine" he replied, almost indignantly as though he was irritated by the prosecutor's concern. He didn't look at all pleased to hear that it was because of him that the two other men weren't sleeping properly. That wasn't to say he wasn't grateful for the concern, though he didn't show it.

Miles let one silver eyebrow arch gracefully into a look of skepticism.
"You are a member of my family now, Cearan," he said firmly. "I would do the same for anyone i consider family."
He smirked slightly and shook his head. "I was awake anyway, in any case."

Cearan sighed slightly and turned back to preparing his usual breakfast, setting his lunchbag aside on the bench ready for him to take it to put it in his bag when he was finished eating. "well I appreciate the concern and everything....but why were you 'awake anyway'?" he asked, looking a bit confused.
