Also, I am not sure about the law exactly, however I am fairly certain that as long as you don't gain a profit for it, it's legal.

Yes, American Law is fairly stupid. To give a point of this, there are even some small town places that have race law in place, and some how have gotten away with it. >.> Still don't know how that works, but yeah.... The censorship was brought about as an idea because people think they are getting ripped off, and wanted to make a point by pulling everything that they thought was theft. However, the biggest issue was seen that we thought companies would use every little thing against people, so it was shot down, big time. So no worries there.
Also, on a side note, if it would ever come down to it, I would help chip in on a private board.
