This is a roleplay in which every member of Pearly Gates is automatically a part of (though you don't have to be if they wish to opt out). If you are not human, just post so in your post - i.e. the unicorn whisperer (Nyala) would be with unicorns in one of the places on earth where an angel has fallen (see below) as would a mythical creature (Lykaios). It is based around the forum theme - heaven - and you play as yourself (your display name). It was a hit last time so we're going to give it a shot again IntroductionIn the beginning, there was a creature; sentient in nature and hardly without purpose, yet mysterious, unknown.. feared. The Earth quivered under the creature's gaze, yet the creature did not understand such fear. It did not come into the world through birth or creation. It did not come to love or to hate.. to live or to die. The creature just was and had always been. There was also an Archangel, the only in existence. She guided the Earth, made its people feel love, helped them live for life. The fear for the creature made the Archangel anger, for her children were not designed to live in such fear. The Archangel, Tifa, flew to find the creature. She would reach into the corners of the universe and find it. And she did, though it was nothing like she had expected. The creature reached into the Archangel's mind and took on the form of another creature, one from the Archangel's planet. It took on the form of a small wolf and added wings upon its back in imitation of the Archangel. The creature would seem naive, playful, full of wonder and awe for the Archangel, though the Archangel knew its great power - power beyond comprehension. Power to be feared. Power that, if in the wrong hands, could shatter the universe. The winged wolf followed the Archangel back to Earth without persuasion, curious as to this other being. Over the next millennia, the Archangel raised the wolf as such, though she never forgot the raw power she had encounter upon first meeting it in the corner of the universe. The wolf, after the first millennia, disappeared. 10 millennia ago, she reappeared in the form of the Archangel, in the form of her own people. Saddened by the loss of her companion, the wolf had taken pure souls released from the earth, and created a people of her own in the likeness of her Archangel. She, herself, had then taken the form of her people. She was no longer a creature of neither good, nor evil - she was a being of pure light - of pure, uncomprehending power that she chose to direct into the skies, creating for herself and her people, a city of gold in the clouds. In the centre of the city, resting upon a lust hill, is an alabaster temple, where the creature watches over her people. She has no name - no true title, yet she is goddess, and has taken upon her a name designated by a young mortal boy. She is now worshipped on Earth as her people guide its inhabitants, as they protect and save them from the residents of hell. Because, when the city of gold was created, the universe became unbalanced - and so to rock back into balance, a plane of darkness was created, where evil worshipped evil, and the souls of the evil were snatched away to after death. INFOThe Academy - This is the place in heaven where the angels are trained for their lives and future jobs, whatever that may be. they are currently out of mortal-studies teachers as of a recent battle against hell. Angels - *Still created by Sparkles from the pure souls of the Earth when their mortal bodies pass away. *If angels have a child together, that child is mortal and sent to the mortal plane to prove themselves - there's no free pass into heaven. The parents are, however, automatically placed as the child's guardian angels. *When souls are accepted into heaven, they are born again as young angel children. Note: If an angel loses his or her wings, they descend to the Earthly to live out the rest of their mortal lives so that their souls can be 'tried' again for purity. -The place on Earth that the angel first descends to contains their power. Unicorns? Dragons? Creatures from Heaven and Hell generally congregate in these places. Some gifted people are also drawn to these places. __________________________________________________ NOTE: The 'IC Quiz' is as good as a profile for this roleplay. If you'd like, add OTHER below your quiz answers to tell us any other details that you want us to know. ClickyPS: I had a run down of how the roleplay would progress, but I've decided it'll be fore fun to bring it in as it happens BEGIN

She sat on the stairs of her temple with her legs folded to one side, the white alabaster stone cold against her thigh as she watched over her city of gold, contemplating her next move.
The students had been without any mortal-studies teachers for 3 years now and she knew what the consequences would be if they graduated without any experience of the earthly. It would cause them to stand out amongst mortals, compromising their jobs. It could create a ridge in the angel-mortal relations and, ultimately, it could fracture heaven's influence on the earthly and allow it to be consumed by hell. She wouldn't let that happen.. but angels specifically educated in the customs and ways of mortals, particularly of humans, were few and far between.
Chewing softly on her bottom lip, Sparkles gazed over her heavenly city once more before standing, the trailing wisps of her semi-transparent clothing caressing the polished stone as she did so. The delicate pink feathers of her wings fluttered in place as a light breeze passed her, bringing with it the clarity of thought.. who better to teach of mortals.. than mortals.

Tifa sighed heavily. She'd lost track of how long she'd been down here. Sure, time was a concept she'd always been above before she'd come here to keep a track of the humans, but now that she lived by its whims, she found herself far too acutely aware of it. She also found herself very aware of just how much she HATED it. She yawned, looking back down at the report she was writing. She'd never felt cut out for this desk-job. She was a much more hands-on type. She liked watching over the humans and making sure affairs on earth went smoothly, but it was boring work. She wanted something a little more exciting. The world was continuing to flow by outside her window, and she watched it quietly, trying to fight off the lingering feeling of home-sickness.

The light shone down gently, keeping the courtyard warm and welcoming, and a soft breeze made the loose feathers drift from the Angels wings and slide across the courtyard ground. The courtyard was a large area, with a shining floor of gold which was covered with pillars, all of which were the same white marble as the walls. Elario stepped out onto the training courtyard, halberd held casually by his side. In the centre of the arena stood his class of ten He heard his Captain bark out "General present!" and watched the Angels went to attention. Arriving at the front and centre of the group of one hundred Angels, Elario took his place in front of them. "Today, you'll learn about the necessities of separating for the good of the whole. How, just because you're by yourself, doesn't mean you can't still achieve great things that aid the rest of your squad. A fair example of this is a human battle approximately 500 years ago on Earth." As the day passed, he separated the class in half to represent both sides of the conflict, and manoeuvred them to the events of the battle as best he could. The class moved perfectly, much to Elario's pride, even if they struggled with the fact they were re-enacting a human conflict, and were unable to use their wings like they naturally would. Eventually, they had the lesson taught to them in just a few short hours. Elario called them off, and for the day they were done.

It was approaching dusk and for Nyala Zibetkatze this was the busiest time of the day. Running through the woods she followed a trail of unicorn blood. Stopping to take in her bearings Nyala cursed herself, how could she let this happen? She was protector of the unicorns. How on earth had she not seen the signs? Because of her, a unicorn was injured.. or even worse. Her lip quivered at the thought. All she could do now was follow the trail and hope that the unicorn had found somewhere to hide away from its human hunters. It had always been the way; ever since she had been intrusted with this job. She was to protect the small herd of unicorns left in the forest of Eldeen even if this meant using magic against the humans who sought out the unicorns.
Nyala would never understand why the humans would slaughter such a beautiful, mystical creature. It had been explained to her that the humans sort out the magical power of the unicorn for possession of various parts like the horn or the skin to make a pelt. How disgusting, she thought, as she followed the trail through the woods. She noticed the snow was starting to melt. It had been a very long winter and this was good for her. Once winter set in, the humans didn't come to the forest to hunt, it was too dangerous. Only the crazy were said to roam the forests in winter. However, as soon as the spring came round the humans would come in to hunt for the season. The trail abruptly came to a stop. Looking around, Nyala noticed that there were some footprints and wagon tracks alongside where the trail ended. Going to the nearest bushes she searched, hoping to find some happy ending. Alas today was not one, as she pushed a branch aside she saw the unicorn, slow on breath and missing its mane and horn. There was nothing she could do, the unicorn had lost too much blood. Her magic could only heal minor wounds.. nothing as severe as this. All she could do was keep the unicorn company, reassure and make things as comfortable as possible. As the unicorn took its last breath, Nyala sobbed, for right now all she could do was weep.

Lykaios wasn't keeping his presence secretive. Though he was remaining concealed, as it were out of necessity. There was something weird about this section of woods, and his fellow monsters seemed to be concentrating on the location. He'd seen a number of unicorns and several griffin floating around the region. It was unnecessary for him to worry about other Lycan's, as they would mostly avoid the area he was in, but he kept an eye out in case of other strong predators. He looked down into the wood, where that energy seemed to originate from, and his human mind urged him to keep away. But the Lycan in him, couldn't leave the source of this amazing energy.
It had to be understood.
Even then, he wasn't sure of what would happen. He'd come into the forest originally tracking the unicorns, and the humans that he could smell hot on their heels. Then, out of the underbrush came a woman, to nurse the wounded unicorn. He was wise to have kept himself hidden, though he had a minor feeling that perhaps his odour could be smelt by her lesser senses, which he could do nothing about at this moment.
He wondered if she could sense the magical energies in her surroundings. But the thought quickly left his mind, when he could find the scent of some new creature.

It had been a long time since she had just taken flight... just spread her wings, and kept going, until she couldn't take any more. It was this act that led her here... to this area where for the life of her, she couldn't remember if she had been here or not.
Slowing her wings down, the raven landed on a windowsill and looked out at the horizon. Strange indeed. She turned on her perch, and happened to look into the window. A woman was sitting at a desk, lost to the world. Either that, or she just didn't care. There were so many who ignored her in this form... sometimes it was welcomed, and yet some times, she found it disgusting how people could look on. She gave a peck on the window to see how the woman would react, curious if she may have found a daydreamer.

The sand was so soft that morning, it ran cleanly through her small hands and back to the warm, white beach beside her. Yuna layed on her stomach as she watched the tide reseed and the sun rise above her beloved home. 'The Calm' was such a beautiful thing, but she longed for adventure again, a journey. Her long blue and white skirt floated from her side across the sand as the wind picked up and brought with it a cool refreshing breeze. She sighed... Things have changed, you've missed so much She thought as if speaking to someone else

'ugh, what an exciting day this turned out to be...' she thought to herself, staring boredly over the city of Wutai -a place which, although it was her home, was forbidden to her these days- and wondering why she had gotten up this morning thinking she would be able to sneak a few trinkets into her treasure bag. She felt rather flat, to be honest. She was, for once, completely out of activities to keep her amused (namely making fun of friends or harassing them for the sheer amusement of it) and it was not something she was capable of dealing with patiently. "come on, Yuffie, where's your ninja spark gone? there must be some kind of genius idea for entertainment in that brain of yours!" she whinged to herself, springing to her feet to turn back to absently tossing kunai throwing knives into the bark of a nearby tree...the amount of time she'd been doing as such was evident from the sheer number of pale notches she had inflicted in the tree with the razor-sharp blades. She huffed aggravatedly and turned her green eyes and angry pout to the sky above her "CAN'T SOMEONE UP THERE MAKE SOMETHING INTERESTING HAPPEN FOR ONCE?!" she shouted, towards the blue above, as if demanding some sort of cosmic disaster from whatever beings might reside above the clouds. Her only response was the cawing of a sickly old crow from a nearby tree, which promptly fluttered lopsidedly away, leaving behind at least a good third of it's coat of feathers in the process of taking to flight. With yet another irritated groan, she flopped backwards onto the dirt, not much caring that gravity had just succeeded in grazing both of her arms, tracing the fluffy shapes of the clouds in the sky with one fingertip.

On a plain devoid of time, where the night was non-existent, the flowers bloomed all year around for every moment of the never-ending day. Her fingers moved slowly over to the nearest petal before softly caressing it. The water upon which the petal floated rippled outwards, though it did not reach the edges of the pool. With her feet dipped into the water, Sparkles picked the petal out of it and brought it up close to her face to study the tiny veins within it.
When Sparkles made a decision, she was never one to reassessed it without good reason, and although she couldn't fathom what that reason was, she could feel its rapid flutterings against her mind as she tried to decipher what it was.
Though if she was true to herself, she already knew what the reason for her doubt was. It was her Archangel. 'What if she doesn't appreciate it.. what if she thinks I'm trying to pry into her realm... what if she disagrees..?', she thought to herself. Such things had been plaguing her for the last human hour since she had heard the call of a mortal for 'something interesting to happen'. 'What if that 'something interesting' is more than the mortals can handle.. what if Tifa disagrees...?'
Sparkles let go of the petal with a soft sigh and allowed it to float back down into the water as she slid her feet out of the water and stood. Drying off without a seconds thought, she reached out to two mortals to gauge their reactions. One, laying on a beach foreign to Sparkles' eyes, and the other, the small female human who had caught her attention. 'You want an adventure.. something interesting.. what would you say if I could offer you just that..?', she though as she effortlessly made her voice, as melodic as a harp and as intruding as a slight breeze, find its way into the minds of her selected mortals.

Tifa was well and truly lost in her wild imaginings when the raven alighted upon her window-sill, but at the tiny tap of its beak against the glass she zoned back in, smiling softly at the creature. She'd rise slowly from her chair and move over to the window, her steps as soft as if she were floating. She'd open the window then, feeling the light breeze from outside lash at her long black locks as it flooded into the room, before settling. "Hello there, little Raven," she greeted merrily, extending an open hand, in which she now held a number of small berries. Where she'd got them from remained somewhat unclear. "Out stretching your wings? I wish I could find the time."

Retracting his halberd into a small foot-long stick, Elario watched as his students left the courtyard. The breeze in the courtyard changed direction suddenly, and his head flicked towards her Temple. Knowing she'd be making a huge decision soon, he sprinted from the court, trying his best not to knock over anyone on his way. Eventually, Elario arrived and saw Sparkles in what looked like deep thought with an absent look on her face, walking around near the pond in the center with a petal on the surface. He didn't want to interrupt, but he cleared his throat somewhat loudly to get her attention.

As Nyala looked around she thought she saw something flicker in the corner of her teary eye. Alas, she saw nothing, but there seemed to be a faint peculiar odour; an odour that did not trigger any memories as such, but seemed to be familiar. Getting up, she moved to the edge of the under-brush, not wishing to be in full sight in case it was a trap or there was danger lurking in the depths. Looking around, she thought she saw a pair of glowing eyes, which made her uneasy.
Surely someone or something wouldn't be game enough to hunt in the forest when the unicorn keeper was around. The creatures of the forest knew better and well, the humans...they seem to not be aware of her. This could only mean one of two things, if she had truly seen something lurking in the bushes.. It was either human or a new creature in this part of the forest.
Walking to where she saw the eyes, she halted. Breathing in deep she prepared herself for what could potentially be a fight.. or just her imagination playing up on her. When she reached the spot, she brushed the bushes aside, but didn't see anything except for footprints.. and large ones at that. How peculiar. ..

He'd had his senses return as he heard her footsteps travelling, and looked toward her; as she moved in his direction. In a split-second decision; he'd moved back silently, and bounded off, to throw himself into a tree and climb it out of sight and -hopefully- out of mind. He watched form his perch as she moved his former hiding spots bushy branch aside, to seek him out, and his human mind released a sigh of relief. It had been a close call, and he was not interested in having himself a fight with a woman who he could clearly tell, was more than average.
Having eluded this woman, he could happily return his attention to the scent of a new creature heading their way. He couldn't place the odour on the wind, as it was something he'd never before smelt. The Lykaios' mind awhirl, he leapt into a tree branch on an adjacent tree to return towards the Unicorn handler. Trying to repeat the process; the Lykaios leapt again, and reached out, grasping at a new branch, only to misjudge the distance, and begin a free-fall to the ground. Cussing himself in his own mind, he could only try to reduce the impact with which he fell...
Which was more or less, unsuccessful. Hitting the ground hard, Lykaios had a slightly hurt whimper escape his muzzle. Struggling to his feet once more, he lunged for the nearest bushes, to get back out of the Unicorn handler's line of sight.

The raven watched calmly as the woman receded from her trance, and smiling, she opened the window offering a handful of berries. The bird turned her head slightly, tilting it to the side and eying the woman for a moment, before hopping closer to the outstretched hand. Taking a moment, she took one berry in between her beak, and crushed it, letting the juices soak on her tongue. The juice was sweet, and she took another one. This woman wasn't so bad after all, and she seemed to have a certain aura about her that made her stand out from the others in this area.
