Desperate Skies roleplay thread

Colours
- Dragons: completely variable.
- Phoenix: colours of a flame. You may favour one colour over another.
- Griffin: All the variables of colours that you would see in a real life animal.
- Thunder Bird: colours produced in the sky during a thunder storm. You may favour one colour over another.


Abilities
- Dragons: Fire, telepathy, magic and great wisdom
- Phoenix: Fire, ressurection and immortality (not included if the phoenix is killed - only if it grows old and dies)
- Griffin: In its body, the griffin is blessed with the speed, flight, and penetrating vision of the eagle and the strength, courage, and majesty of the lion.
- Thunder Bird: Capable of controlling storms and thunder and producing electricity.

All have flight.
The dragon hatchlings can take up to 5 years to learn how to fly, whereas the griffin hatchlings can take up to 4 years.
The phoenix and thunderbird chicks learn to fly at the same rate as an eagle.

Personality:
As all dragons would be at his old age (although few get to be his age), Sinuo is very wise. He has lived through the rise of the humans and understands their capability for great evil. Yet he is not jaded. He enjoys the company of others and especially his young grandaughter Zephyrus (known to him as Zeppi) very much. He has a good sense of humour and although he doesn't get around as well as he used to (hense why he did not battle but was protecting the children), he's still a very formidable opponent.

Family:
Sinuo has 1 female child and 1 grandchild from his child (his child died in the great beast battle just past - of course he won't know that until a little way into the roleplay when a few survivors return)

History:
He was alive when all species were at peace with others. He fought fiercely for his clan and was one of the only reasons they survived through the Great Purge. His soul-mate died when their daughter was only 35 years old. He is accepting of his life and now had given over his leadership to another. However, regardless of his age, he must now take up the position again to lead the young ones.

1346 _{(Not even nearly old enough to be out of commission but he was tortured in such a way by the humans when he was an adolescent dragon that he would be no good in such a battle as was occuring when he was sent to stay with the young ones)}

Appearance:
Koron was tortured by humans as an adolescent. He was declawed for potions and drained of blood almost to death for dragon blood (believed to heal all wounds when applied) and other medicines. For this reason he is now disabled by dragon standards. The image below is correct minus all talons.


Personality:
It would seem upon meeting Koron that he has come through life with a stone in his chest. He is shielded when it comes to opening himself up to others but he is rather kind yet self-deprieciating; both would be easily seen by those who have taken the time to get to know him.

Family:
No offspring.

History:
He grew up during the Great Purge. For this reason, Koron was not able to sufficiently defend himself when the humans came for him. They held him in a dungeon and had him tortured - his talons removed as well as a large portion of his scales (these would have grown back a long time ago) and his blood was almost fatally drained. He was taken out of the dungeon and used as bait to get his clan to come to the humans. However, with the last vestiges of his strength, he fought his way out of his restraints when his clan showed up and flew off to a place where he was found 5 days later by the remainder of his clan (3 had died in his rescue). He had not moved; wound in misery, heartache and pain.
Disgusted with himself, particularly his disability, he never sought for a mate when he reached the age to do so.

lightbrown is her back and her hind quarters. Her head and neck is a creamy brown. Her chest is white flecked with cream brown feathers and her wings are lightgrey flecked with brown feathers.


Personality:
Aura has a very soft nature. She is kind and caring and very loyal. She is not one to put forth her opinions unless she believes someone (anyone) could get hurt. She wasn't very pleased about the battle, but she never spoke up.

Family:
Her soul-mate Aerugo and her unborn hatchling _{(Aerugo will come back from the battle only if someone wishes to roleplay him. If someone does, then let me know and i'll make his base profile so you can add to it personality, etc).}

History:
Aura is in her early years of adulthood. Her mate found her hiding from a frill-neck lizard that had been chasing her in Australia when her curiosity had gotten the better of her and she'd wondered away from her clan. He 'saved' her from the lizard (which had already left) and they'd been best of friends ever since. When it came time to search out a soul-mate, she never had to look very far. She is currently heavily pregnant and this is why she did not participate in the battle.

You can choose to roleplay Rhizz (her unborn hatchling) when he is born or you may choose not to. She''ll also need to lay an egg for him at some time. Appearance:
Anastar has bright gold eyes and a very sligt and smooth frame. She has a long, full tail and razor sharp talons.


Personality:
Anastar is very independant. She likes to do whatever she can for herself and is very stubborn; rarely admiting the need for help.She can also be very sharp with others at times and although she seems scarey and unapproachable, she is a very fierce protector, she is kind to those she loves and friendly when her guard isn't so stiff.

History:
Anastar has always been a step above the rest when she was younger and is now considered one of the clan's greatest flames. She is almost magical at healing and has a very keen sense for life and death. She was asked to sit out fo the battle because the phoenixes do not trust the dragons or the griffins to protect their young if a threat arose.

Lex has always been a jokester and he's always been reprimanded for it. He was asked to sit out the battle because his clan wanted to send one of their own to protect the young ones as well as to get him out of the way lest he strew it up. He's aware of everyone's aggitation at him and has been trying hard to straighten up and be more serious in recent times.

Family:
His father (to die in battle).

History:
Lex fell for Anastar when the clans met up 40 years ago. Ever since then, each time he sees her, he tries to impress her. However, he's close to giving up as a result of her cold shoulder and snappy personality.

Perhaps a little too over-confident and unpredictable, Asterion is almost unable to sit still for long periods of time. When bored, he'll fidget with his talons or pace, or if he happens to be flying at the time, do random stunts to try and relieve his boredom. He enjoys a good challenge, and has the capacity to be quite proud. A downfall he has, but otherwise he's a good-hearted Griffon.

I'll begin the roleplay properly we have another roleplayer. Everything is up now but the social systems of each species (which i'll get onto when/if someone else joins).

I have one note I would like to point out to you, Sparkles (not meaning it in a bitchy or patronising way, of course) fire is not ALWAYS reds and yellows, just mostly. Flames can be blue and with certain chemicals may burn various colours, though only the pale blues and the warm colours are natural colours XD. Just pointing that out, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, just in case it came across that way XD anyhows, SO JOINING!

A deep, black dragon with slightly iridescent scales, particularly on the blue markings. The "fur" at the eartips is actually the frayed ends of thin ear-scales. As he is younger in this profile than in the illustrations, all the spines are MUCH shorter as are the horns, which lack the segmented spikes as of yet. The frills and wings are not very big as compared to full-grown dragons' wings, the fangs are not prominent and the claws are not yet fully developed, however his bite is still nasty. The ears are already full size, so at the current time they look rather 'cute' in that they seem a little too big for his head.

Yes, that is my OWN artwork for those who don't know so please no using without permission, thankyou! I will try to draw up an image of the young Ara, soon, if I have time.

Personality: Quiet and polite, usually, and although wary of the other species he feels he has no direct quarrel with them in such desperate times, so he does not argue unless argued with. However, he is by no means a pacifist and if someone wrongs him or his clan he will not hesitate to do whatever he can to pay them back ten-fold. He tends to be reclusive and generally only interacts with his brother, whom he guards with his life.

Younger brother: Irt'u -hatchling only 5 1/2 years. He can fly, but only briefly and spends much time on his brother's back. (hatched in the clutch after Arakeil, with their sister, whom died only a few months old.) NOTE: if anyone wants to, I would not be against someone playing Irt'u

History: Born in his parents' first clutch, the only to survive past hatchling years, Arakeil grew up protected fiercely by his parents and was raised on his mother's tales and beliefs that the rivalries the beasts had amongst each other were foolish in times when they should be more worried about the human threat. None of his family at all liked the other species, but they were more interested in staying out of humans' ways than the other beasts'. Upon the hatching of his brother Irt'u and the death of his only sister, Mila, Ara became ferociously protective of his brother, intent on them both surviving to continue their race and to prevent the loss of any more family members. His father had died shortly after Irt'u and Mila were hatched, from illness after braving a storm to protect the three children. To lose two family members in such quick succession deeply wounded Ara and he has since properly accepted few people outside of the odd conversation here and there.

Other: Ara is a particularly lithe and long dragon amongst his kind, but as such he is swift and agile and makes for an adept flyer for his age. Older, adolescent dragons tend to agree he would be pretty frail on the ground and was born for flight. Ara's call ranges from a very echoing almost ringing sort of roar, to a hissing sound, to an almost sing-song sort of half-howl, half roar. He cannot growl, unlike some dragons as such he instead hisses when he is angry or wary, he can "purr", a sort of sound that is not rumbled enough to be a growl but not warbled enough to be a whistle. It is somewhere between a roar and a bird-call. (I hope you understand that).

Although, as a point of note, to have so many in one clutch, then to have that many hatch, let alone manage to have two clutches so close together - is very rare (although possible so that's fine And you're right about the fire colours so... how about when they light themselves and go really hot, they can then change colours?

that would be quite accurate, since the colour of the flame indicates how hot it is, red is normal, blue and white are really hot so perhaps it indicates the Pheonix's age? as in they get hotter and brighter as they get older? and yes, I know to have that many and in two clutches is rare, hence I had most not survive, which is a more natural explanation as it does tend to work that way for living animal species like turtles, they lay LOTS of eggs and only a few ever make it into the sea due to predators and in other animals the young may die from disease and such

Perhaps - we can figure that out if anyone decides to roleplay an adult phoenix once the battle ends (or if they decide to take on one of the two pre-made phoenix characters).

And yeah, turtles lay lots of eggs and most don't survive - but these are sentient creatures and are all fiercely protective of both their eggs and their young. Regardless, it's all good ^_^

ALSO - all dragons do have their clan name after their given name. It was for definition of allies/enemies, recognition, etc, though it's not so much a 'surname' - they don't have surnames. It's only used when one clan member introduces him/herself to a member of another clan as it's respectful and courteous (regardless that there are only the few clans now... the tradition has kept).

With the mother being the queen - do you mean she's the leader? in which case your dragon would be from the clan Silice.

with "Queen" I mean mother, like Sire is father. Some animals use Matron, but I've heard Queen used for dragons often, so I chose that term it's just technical words.

Personality:
Adelonda's personality switches a lot. She can be very moody at times and then other times she is sweet and kind. She will tend to fly away if someone bothers her or upsets her and she does not forgive easily. She enjoys being very active including flying and dancing. Her sky aerobatics make her calm and where she feels most at home.

Family:
Raze- Twin brother with dark grey scales and hair. He considers himself very wise for his age and tends to judge his sisters actions. He is very protective but wont interfere with his family's problem unless it effects him or Adelonda. Raze is a lot bigger than Adelonda.

History: Adelonda's mother and father went missing before her and her brother turned juvenile. Raze is determined to think that they abandoned them but Adelonda doesnt want to believe that. She loved her parents and they had taught her well about the other beasts and the humans. She considered herself lucky to learn as much as she could from them otherwise she wouldn't of survived this long. Since then she had been following her brother like a leach knowing that he would care for her. Adelonda stays close with the clan waiting for the war to end.

Awesome ^_^ You can post as soon as you want.
The only thing i want to point out is that they would have stayed with the clan not gone off on their own. If you want, you could make it that they preferred to just follow the clan and not be involved, but they'd still have stayed with them (not being adults, they wouldn't have been able to leave even if they'd wanted to do so).

They'll be in the clearing waiting for the battle to end just like the others (you could have them wander off if you want to, but they wouldn't go far).

At his best Kauya is a couageos male. He has no problem rushing into something that he doesn't know about which can get him into some tight situations but the fact that he's still alive proves that he can handel himself somewhat. He is kind and helpful aswell and will put wawy anything he was doing just to help out a complete stranger. He's also determined and works hard on everything but he tries to show off and it can mess him up but he will fix anything he messed up.

At his worst he is hostile and stuck in deep depression. He gets these types of moods all of the time and he tends to be alone in the so not to lash out on anyone else. He doesn't stay in the moods for long and he's back to is happy fun self.

History:

His life stroy isn't that interesting. He was born to a mother but no father and she never told him about his missing parent. zit seemed to depress her so he rarly asked. She died and then he was left with his brother who disappeared when he was asleep. He then lived the remainder of his past with his clan. Not saddened by death but just happy to be alive.
