The arc hummed softly, but otherwise there was nothing but silence. A blonde man had nodded off at the glowing console, his face resting on his arm that spread out across the controls. His long blonde hair cascaded unkemptly over his shoulders. The man's clothes had seen better days, they were torn and missed with dirt and blood, and they were scorched in places. Hastily dressed wounds showed through the tears in the soft pink fabric, evidence that he'd been involved in some sort of scuffle. His battered face was serene, relaxed in the depths of his slumber.

About then there was the sound of scuffling feet and scratching claws on a hard metal floor. A few moments later, the scuffling's source became evident as a large wolf with pure white fur and bright red, flame-like markings wandered up into the bridge, looking over at he main panel, where her companion stood...sleeping. The she-wolf whined in a both worried and irritated way, noting that the display around them showed they were nearing their destination. She pranced over, first grumbling slightly and tugging on his sleeve, getting little more than a mumble from the man, so she then barked twice, pushing at his legs with her shoulder. Again, no response. His called for something a bit less subtle. The wolf stood up on he hind paws and batted at his arms, the man pushing her paws away sleepily. So in the end, she decided to take the risk of upsetting his wounds and stepped back a little, before racing forward and slamming onto him with a full force leap, barking loudly ad licking his face.

Waka had not realized how easily his subconscious brushed the wolf's attempts to stir him, he'd never really considered he was THAT tired. "Go away Ma Cherie," he grumbled, pushing her paws away. "Five more minutes..." The suddenly there was a jolt, like a bolt of lightning, that slammed into him. He woke abruptly, realising he was falling. He felt the slam of the metal floor beneath him. He hissed slightly, his wounds aching at the force of his fall. "You are very rough, Ma Cherie..." he chuckled, raising a hand to shield his face from her tongue. "What exactly is so important?"

The wolf barked several times in an excited manner, getting off of the injured man and hopping on the spot, waving her paw in he direction of the visualization the ark gave of their surroundings. Straight ahead was the floating island known as he celestial plain. The white she-wolf wagged her tail happily and barked again wandering over to the controls and jumping up to put her paws up on the panel just short of all the buttons and switches. Her white fur seemed to glow in the electric light of the ark

Waka raised an eyebrow and looked towards the view screen that his companion had urged his attention towards. A great island loomed before them, with a mountain that reached tall in the center. He slowly stood, holding his side as it throbbed with pain. His wounds were still fresh from their battle against the Lord of Darkness, and so he was still very stiff. He limped over to the console, placing one hand on the wolf's head while the other typed a command into the console. "Almost home, Lady Amaterasu," he said, looking down at her with a warm smile. "I am sure it has changed a great deal since we departed so many years ago..." he shifted his weight from one leg to the other, eyes fixed on the land that grew steadily closer. This realm was not his... But it was the closest thing he had to a home. "It feels almost surreal, to actually be going back."

The wolf made a noise of acknowledgment, wagging her tail happily and nudging Waka's hand with her cold nose. She then turned her gaze ahead to the island which loomed before them, steadily growing ever larger as it approached them, first the rocky crags of its edge becoming clear, then the trees became clear, burned and just barely still producing tiny, limp grey-green leaves. It was rather a mess considering its former glory...Orochi had made a real graveyard out of the once flawlessly beautiful place...she couldn't wait to get on the ground and see what she could do to repair the damage to the natural beauty...the hardest part would be finding the last surviving members of the Celestial race, wherever they might have escaped to. She gave a soft whine to see the home she loved so much in utter ruins, a sad little frown tugging at her canine lips.

Waka felt his own heavy heart begin to ache when he saw the devastation that the celestial plain had endured. He remembered little of the specific details of that night they'd fled on the arc of Yamato. He'd been grievously wounded and blinded by desperation, just doing everything he could to keep the arc airborne as a war raged within it. Then when it had crashed to earth he'd been left within an inch of death, barely making it out alive thanks to Amaterasu, while the Celestials he'd unwittingly led to their dooms perished in the arc. Two hundred years of waiting had also considerably dulled the memories. Seeing now the scorched and scarred earth and the desolate wilderness made him realize how close Orochi had come to completely destroying them for good. He glanced at the white wolf when she whined, giving her head another reassuring pat, fondling her ears gently. "All is not lost, Ma Cherie," he assured softly. "Now that you have returned, we can set things right."

The wolf turned to look at the golden-haired man with a sad look on her eyes, but she nodded her head. She knew it was not going to be an easy task to restore the Celestial Plain but she had to try and she certainly wasn't giving up before they started. She tilted her head slightly as Waka petted her head and ears, seeming to rather like the gesture.

Waka continued to pet Ammy's head softly, watching the content expression on her face with a mirror of it on his own. While his fingers rubbed a gentle rhythm between her ears, his thumb traced the crimson lines that emblazoned her white coat with godly colour. They swirled dramatically in every direction, and he mapped their path in his mind. They were once again every bit as splendorous as they had been when he had first met her, after arriving on the Arc all those centuries ago. She'd sacrificed so much since meeting him, giving up her home, and 200 years of waiting... And all because she'd believed in him. Her sage-like golden eyes were every bit as forgiving as he remembered, and so full of life. He would never be able to erase the look of pain he'd seen her endure after she and Nagi had defeated Orochi some hundred years ago. Watching her die had nearly killed him.
The console beeped then, diverting his attention away from his reminiscence and back to his driving. "Scuze moi," he said as he moved both hands onto the console and began entering many different commands, the control stick materializing and rising out of the panel. "I must bring the arc down now... And you know my track record is Uh... Not so good, with landings." he chuckled softly.

The wolf barked and got down from the panel so as to not obstruct him and sat down beside him with a bark. She could see the Landing platform not fa ahead of them. The she-wolf turned her golden eyes to Waka, barking in a reassuring manner, to cheer him on...when was the last time he drove, after all? He needed the encouragement!
As the ship drew closer to landing, Ammy quickly braced herself, just in case the landing was as rough as the first time, so she wouldn't lose her footing.

Waka was concentrating so hard on landing that he actually broke out in a sweat. His eyes narrowed more and more as the landing pad drew closer. He began to pull the arc's nose up and slow the speed down. He had to concentrate on slowing his breathing down as well, because it had unknowingly sped up. Slowly but surely the arc touched down, with only the slightest of bumps. Waka sighed with relief, leaning tiredly on the console. "Well, that went better than I expected," he admitted sheepishly.

He wolf goddess barked agreement, deciding she had never actually needed to brace herself as that landing was much better than expected. She then jumped up, tail wagging and began to bark excitedly, running in a little circle happily before bounding over to Waka and tugging at his sleeve excitedly. She really couldn't wait to get outside and get to work.

Waka laughed at the goddess's excitement slowly turning from the console to limp forward at her behest. He was in quite a bit of pain, but complaining was something he was not in the practice of doing. He led her to the arc's entrance, typing in the commands to open the door on a nearby panel. Slowly it inched open, bathing them in the light of the world outside. It was very different to the artificial glowing blue light of the arc. The air, which he remembered as being sweet, and the perfect balance between warm and cool, was now a smotheringly dry heat, and it smelled like smoke and dirt. The entire atmosphere was oppressive and dismal. The ramp finished lowering and the rainbow extended to give them a path to the ground. The earth below was blackened and cracking, a fine white mist hung over everything and drifted slowly, as there was no breeze. The distant mountain was cold, and the surrounding forests skeletal black shadows. It made Waka's heart ache to see it in such a state.
When he'd first come to the celestial plain from the Lunar Realm, he'd been a simple explorer, wishing to see more of the world that he'd been denied all his life. It had been the moat beautiful thing he'd ever seen, and even though its residents had treated him with caution, they'd welcomed him, convinced that he deserved another chance, even if he came from the Moon Tribe. So when monsters had emerged from his arc to lay waste to their beautiful home, he'd been wrought with grief. He'd stood with them, fighting to near death. Then he'd lead the Celestials to the arc, hoping it would be their liberation, but it had turned out to be their tomb. Nothing could ever forgive the horrors he'd brought to this sacred place. He smothered a sigh, clutching his aching side.

Amaterasu looked upset by the sight of her once-beautiful home and whined softly to Waka both for her home and his wounds. She nudged his hand slightly to get his attention before she began walking towards the open, charred field ahead, which was surrounded by the burned remains of the Celestial civilization. The remnants were testament to the incredible beauty and complexity of the once towering pagoda structures.
