A rather unfortunate village with its own fair share of troubles. It was initially a quiet farming village, but when Bandits came and began trying to drive the people out the stubborn farming population adopted their own methods of coping. It is now home to a rather famous band of mercenaries who lead a rather monastic life, lending their services not to those with the most coin, but to those whose cause they deem the most righteous.

Tackril strode easily around the small market, The stores were quiet with only a few people venturing from the safety of thier homes to spend the little money they had left. Goldernwick was not a poor town, but the last few weeks had seen an increased level of violence in the way the bandits got what they want, harrassment had esculated to beatings and the torching of houses and stores. This sudden violence seemed to be the work of the new kid on the block, Nygris Karn, a big guy with a short fuse, 2 months ago he arrived from Terrah and almost instantly, upon his arrival villagers started to feel the heat. Nygris and his devoted band were due for his mid-day tantrum any minute now, And Tackril had the 'privilage' of trying to talk him out of it, and any future ones he definitely had planned, Tack's thoughts were interupted by a crashing sound. " Right on time " Tackril smiled and walked into the markets.

Roran was perusing the stalls, buying the odd trinket here and there. But he was mostly fishing for information of the local plant life. There was a particularly elusive plant that only grew here in Janu, and he'd been told back down in the capital that some folks in Goldernwick knew where it was. So here he was. He was just inspecting a particularly shiney looking ring when he heard a ruckus somewhere behind him. He turned to see what it was, noting a large group of men riding down the center of town, brandishing swords and torches. They were crude fighting men, that was easy enough to see. "That's not very gentlemanly..." He thought as the people around him began to scream and run for cover. He turned back to the stall, hoping to purchase the ring, only to find the stall owner had fled. "Oh, NOW what am I gonna do?" He grumbled, setting the ring down and walking out into the center of the path, right into the way of the charging ruffians. "Ho there!" He called casually enough, hidden behind the folds of his deep blue velvet hood.

Tack ran onto the road, in the way of the quickly moving men and horses, Pretending to be just another panicking villager, all while searching for the leader. He wasnt riding at the head of the pack, but at the very back, perfect. Tack withdrew 2 small grappling hooks linked by a length of rope from a pouch on his belt. He pegged the first hook at one of the more sturdy stores, it found the Anvil in what happened to be a small blacksmiths workshop... even MORE perfect. He swung the second hook as he closed with the horse and lashed it out at it rider. 'THUMP' The hook dug into his thick garments and shoulder. Yanking him clean off his steed.

Roran didn't think the bandits were going to acknowledge him, and that made him rather... annoyed. "Alright fine. You don't wanna answer for ruining my pleasant day's shopping, i'll make YOUR day unpleasant." He held out his hands, his eyes that were beneath the hood began to glow gold, swirling furiously. The ground in front of the front column of riders cracked open, sending them tumbling into the ravine that quickly filled itself over again. The horses just behind those that now rotted in the earth balked, rearing up. That's when Roran noticed that someone else seemed intent on unhorsing these men as well. "Well, i get the distinct impression you fellows aren't welcome here." He raised his hands into the air, magic coursing at his fingertips as vines wrenched from the earth to wrap around the legs of the horses, sending them tumbling to the ground. Roran gave a cackle of excitement. "Too easy!" he exclaimed, golden eyes keeping a look out for whoever the other man attacking the bandits was.

" Hello friend! " Tackril greeted the stunned but quickly angering bandit, not before running over and pinning him to the ground, punching him half a dozen times in the face in the process. " A'lotta folks round here arn't appreciating the goods your selling, Im here recommending you offer them somthing different or nothing at all " Nygris's eyes went wide, but he quickly regained his senses and spat onto tacks face, tack flinched and was thrown off. Nygris regained his footing and booted Tack hard in the ribs. no sound left tacks mouth, the kick had knocked the wind out of him. Nygris drew his sword and brought it above his head. Tack rolled, the sword hit the dirt where his head had been. Tack crash tackeled the man into the wall, then grabbed his sword hand and snapped it at the wrist using the outer wall corner as leverage. The man roared and somehow managed to lash out with his foot, catching Tacks knee, dropping him to the floor "You dirty mongrel!" Tack was fed up, he drew a knife from his coat and lunged at the man, shoving the knife through his shoulder, feeling the tip jam into the jiont between his arm and shoulder. The man screamed, clutching the knife. " ok no more pleasantries, You leave or i cut it off! " . The mans eyes went wide, "I cant! , im not in charge here! let me go!" . Tacks eyes narrowed, he threw the man to the dirt, ripping the knife free as he did so, Tack quickly withrew into the shop to where the hook had fastened itself and withrew it, the other was still dug deep into Nygris's other shoulder. His horse had stopped nearby , tack fastened the hook to its saddle and walked back over to Nygris and grabbed him by the throat. " One more time... i want you to leave now of your own accord, or alternatively i can help you " . Tack copped another wad of saliver and the same answer. He punched him hard in the nose, breaking it and causing gunky blood to drip all over this face. Then in a few moments he made it to the horse, picked up a stick and lashed it across its rear. The horse kicked out a few times, grunted and set off at a gallop, Tearing Nygris apart as it dragged him over the rocks and holes. Tack turned to see where the rest of the bandits had got to. " I hate liars "

Roran was just pleasantly strolling down the now bandit-less street, brushing the dirt off of his clothes. That's when he noticed someone beating up on another man and then lashing him to his horse. The mage watched with an amused expression as the individual sent the horse fleeing, dragging its master viciously along the ground behind it. "Interesting methods." He mused out loud, hoping the other man would hear him, "Crude, but effective." He then cleared his throat, switching to a slightly more formal tone, "I'm not normally in the practice of stating the obvious but you, my friend, seem to have a mite of a bandit problem." He chuckled arrogantly.

Tack drew two knives upon seeing the stranger, his eyes darting left and right in case the bandits had taken position in one of the many alleyways or on the rooftops. "Who are you!?" He asked out loud backing himself up to the wall. Scanning the area and keeping his eyes on the man as he went.

"Peace friend." Roran said gently, raising his hands in a gesture traditionally of surrender. He was completely unarmed, "My name, is Roran Regis." He reached up to shed his hood, long blond locks falling around his face in an ALMOST feminine fashion. He fixed Tack with eerie - almost unnatural - gold eyes, that seem to swirl as if they were orbs of glass filled with liquid. He dipped into a bow. "Earth mage, and Master Alchemist, at your service." He straightened, tugging at the collar of his coat as if to straighten it. An amulet hung about his neck, pulsating with a golden glow. It was the emblem of the Hale Academy of Magic, proof of his title.

Tack eased himself a little and walked slowly to this Roran character, still not very sure and watching the streetcorners and rooftops, waiting for the familiar sound of a bowstring being released. He got within 10 metres, sheathing both knives and offering his hand in greeting "Im Tackril, ahh... a messenger boy i guess" he shrugged. stealing glances to his left and right, trying not to look too on edge.

Roran extended his hand fearlessly and firmly shook the one the other man offered. "Messenger? That's quite a message you just sent." He smirked, rather approving, "I hope my using those men as fertilizer doesn't put a dampener on your 'message'." He chuckled lightly heartedly, gesturing to the tiny crack that was all that was left of the bandits from before.

Tack stared at the ground for a few moments, "Ah well that explains where they all went then" he smiled and turned to walk away, stopping mid step. "I wonder, how would you like to stick around, we can house and feed you because yes... we do have a bit of a bandit problem and you've demonstrated a nack for errr, cleaning up messes.

Roran seemed rather surprised by this. What exactly was this man asking? "You want me to hang around and help you handle your bandit problem?" He frowned, not so sure about delaying his plant research for the sake of some little backwater town with trouble handling honourless bullies.... but then again... "Alright, but what's in it for me? If i do this, i have a request."

Tack smiled "Money is no problem, we will pay you well if you always work this hard" he chuckled as he gestured towards the ground. "The people of this town are some of the kindest ive ever met, they don't deserve to put up with this scum, you'd be hard pressed to make better friends then these"

Roran immediately shook his head. Wealth was of no consequence to him, not when you came from a family of scholars like he did. "it is not money i seek but information. If i offer you my services, i ask only for any and all information regarding local plant life." He smirked, eagerly awaiting the reaction from the other man.
