Lupin also noticed the gigantic creature...but then realized that those horns were the only thing it could use to harm them. Other than the daggerlike hooves. Hmm.. The hellhound motioned for the pack to pause in its journey as he thought up a plan. Then, he began to whisper to them so as not to gain any notice of the elk in the distance. "All of you, spread out. We're going to search around the herd for any elk that seem to be injured..or if one of them as a youngster. Use your abilities if you must. If it will aid in the killing of our dinner, than so be it. We have a lot of mouths to feed...so let's get to it. Bali, come with me and Maia." He muttered as he started to drift off to the left of the pack.

((Can i just point out that Maia isn't on the hunt, she's in the cave with the pups, being blind she isn't able to hunt.))

Bali perked up her head also at the mention of her name... "And Miai sir?"......."Isn't Miaiback in the cave sir" she almost ran back to that cave on the last words as she was waiked by a twig chipping under her paw, coldness!!! She scampered after Lupin and held her head low and kept her distance from the others, she really didn't want to showher inferiorness if she didn't have to.

(Oops...I knew that. xDDDDDDDD I'm such a retard sometimes. Heh..)

Lupin blinked, and idly looked around. Oops, made a mistake. "Er..ya, I knew that. It's just difficult to remember..I'm normally never apart from her...used to saying such things. Eh..sorry." He muttered while he began to pad off. Then, he looked over his shoulder at Bali. "It should be fine if it's just the two of us." Another grin appeared as he made his way towards the herd of elk; in search of a weakened one.

Maia was curled up asleep in the cave, the pups curled around her.

Bali looked around too, "Is that one week?" she found a big one that looked very tall and muscular... but at least it had no horns. "It has no horns" she pointed out.

Maia's ears perked up. What was that noise... She stood and twitched her ears, listening for the noise. There it was again.
One pup behind her whined loudly and she heard all the pups make a scramble for the back of the cave.
A picture was formed before Maia's unseeing eyes by the sound of footsteps.
Oh no... what was this creature?

Fang snarled as he advanced across the cave, he would remove this annoying, pitiful female from exsistance, then there'd be very little in the pack who would question his right to challenge the alpha.

Maia growled "Fang, what are you doing?" She stood between him and the pups her head lowered and teeth bared.

Lupin glanced around the area and then his sights landed upon the large one in the distance. "Mm..it may have no antlers...but...that would could still put up a dang-" He was abruptly cut off as a very...very bad feeling appeared in the pit of his stomach. A low growl erupted from his muzzle as he glanced about the area. "Something...isn't right..." He murmered more so to himself than to Bali. "I hope Maia is okay...I just have a bad...feeling......" He trailed off, shaking his head and attempting to advance foreward. However, he just couldn't get Maia out of his head. What the hell? ".....I...hell..." He cursed and turned around. "Bali...I'll be right back. Stay here and tell the other packmembers that I will be back as soon as possible." He spoke while hightailing it back towards the cave where Maia was. 'Maia..please be alright...' He thought to himself as he bounded along the snowcovered ground.

Maia let out a sharp yelp as Fang threw her across the cave and she collided with the wall.
She huffed for breath as she hauled herself to her feet listening for Fang's next advance.
Come on Maia... he's only huge and built for fight.... please come Lupin my love... She whimpered again as Fang's snarling jaws grew closer.

Lupin continued to make haste; hoisting his gigantic configuration through the snow and bounding towards the cave. It came into view a short while afterwards; extremely sensitive nose taking in the scents of not only Maia and the whelps, but...but Fang, as well. An abrupt snarl came rumbling from his larynx; increasing in intensity as he grew closer. Nobody....NOBODY, injured Maia and lived to see the light of day.

Lupin froze at the front of the cave entrance and bellowed in his throaty, gutteral vocals, "You. Traitor. Fang, show yourself, you coward. Harming a female who is not only the Alpha's mate, but blind as well! You discust me you wretch! And for attacking Maia, you'll die by my claws!" He snarled out while bounding in and leaping at the traitorous wolf from behind. If he connected with Fang, he'd dig his sharpened talons into the hide of him, ripping and tearing. If he gained leverage enough, Lupin would then lower his mawline quickly and attempt to gain a strong hold upon the back of Fang's throat; eventually to choke him to death or rip out his vocal cords, larynx, anything that could prove fatal. At this point, Lupin cared not. He saw blood in the near future, and a meal if he was successful.

Fang abandoned his advance on the female and turned to skillfully dodge the alpha's blow.
"Weak! Corrupted by silly humanoid emotions!" He snarled as he to, leapt for Lupin's form, his jaws dripping with saliva mingled with a little of Maia's blood.
If his attack should succeed he would surly be in a position in which he could adminster a fatal blow, and end the troublsom alpha's life forever, and he could take over the pack like he wanted.

Maia whimpered in the corner, listening intently to the battle that ensued before her unseeing eyes.

Suddenly, Lupin halted in mid-leap. This would allow him to control his next actions. Foremitt would extend quickly, attempting to rake over the offending creature's mawline/cheekbone and perhaps attempt at blinding him. "I am hardly what you call weak, Fang!" He snarled out. If this attack should land, neck would shoot out while muzzle wide, revealing his large fangs. Then, he'd use said fangs in an attempt to grab him by the throat. He hoped this would succeed. He wanted to be rid of this idiot...and NOW. Being a hellhound, he definately had the advantage...that was for sure.
