Damien looked at the child,poor kid hadnt been born into the best of times "we'll take care of you kiddo,and im sure that if we dont find ure family,Ash here will make a great mum" he looked down to where his leg should be,maybe he could get an artificial one.

Ash scoffed.
"Don't listen to him," she said to Reece. "He's obviously delusional. I can barely handle him, let alone you."
The young boy looked between Ash and Damien with a confused expression, but then gurgled happily. Ash smiled, rolling her eyes, before looking at Damien. She noticed him looking down at where his leg should have been.
"You know, they can do so much these days. It might not be too bad..." Her expression had saddened. No matter what technology was around, she knew it still would be a horrible thing to live with...

"i guess" he said covering his lower half up with the blanket,unable to look anymore.he looked again at Reece "so wats next for this little champ then? is there somewhere he can play in this hospital,other kids maybe?" he sat up,the pain seemed to have subsided a bit.he wanted nothing more to get back to the front line,but to do that he needed a leg,and his other bones needed to be mended.He would draw out a desighn for the blueprints later on.it would give him something to do.He wasnt out of this war yet.

Ash looked down at Reece, but it seemed the boy didn't understand as he just sat there, still grinning.
"God kid, are you just gunna sit there all day with that stupid grin on your face?"
"There's not too many kids in the hospital at all," she said, looking up at Damien again. "Just any children of military personnel or those who can afford the treatments these days... And they tend to be in a very bad way in any case."
She sighed.
"He might be able to spend time with a couple of the kids, but a this stage, it looks like he'll be keeping you company a fair bit."
At this, she couldn't help but smirk a little.

He grimaced,as long as the kid didnt beat him up,he was fine with it "so kiddo,what movies are you into? you dont by anychance know how to play poker?" he smiled.This kid just kept smiling and makeing a sound that composed of giggles and gurgles.He wondered what had become of his parents.Did they miss thier child,were they dead...or worst

Ashley looked at the kid, with a mild frustration. She found his lack of speech rather annoying.
"I don't think it matters what you do, he'll probably just grin his way through it."
"How on earth did they get you to speak before? Some form of torture perhaps?" she asked Reece, poking him, which caused him to squeal with laughter.
"Heh... He's ticklish," she laughed.

Damien burst into laughter at that,but then clenched his fists and grabbed his stomach,it hurt so much."Ow shit!" he looked up,the kid looked amazed,"Dont repeat that kiddo,or Ash here will cut me new one" he said trying to aviod eye contact with Ash,who he could feel burning his skull with her glare.He flicked the kid playfully on the shoulder,the kid responded by grabbing his finger and kgving it a good ol crunch "ouch,that wasnt nice" he said takeing his finger away.The kid just sat thier...smileing a big goofy smile.

"Hey!" Ash slapped Reece's hand lightly. "Don't do that."
The toddler's grin shrunk a little and he looked up at Ash innocently, before beginning to tug on her blonde hair again. She sighed and looked at Damien, concerned.
"Are you alright? Do want me to get something for you?"

he smiled at the kid,"um,could i please have a drink of water?" im pretty sure my throat is as dry as the great sandy dessert right now " he looked at the child "come here kiddo,ill look after you while 'mummy' is out getting me something to drink" he looked up at Ash,diplaying the biggest grin hed ever mustered,he knew this would get on her nerves.

Ash glared at Damien as she dumped Reece beside him. "Just because you're sick now doesn't mean I won't kick your ass later."
"Please give him hell," she said to Reece, who just grinned back. She sighed. "God you are thick." She ruffled the boy's hair. "You two'll get along just fine."
"I'll be just a minute," she said, heading for the door.

"soo kiddo" he said to the child that was sitting on his lap in front of him,giving him that stupid grin. "looks like well be getten to know each other" the kid looked at him,reached out and poked him in the eye "you need to learn some respect,you dont pick up ladies by reaching over and pokeing them in the eye,or get freinds by pokeing them in the eye either" the kid looked dumbstruck,but then seeming to have figured it all out,reached over and poked him in the other eye "silly little bugger" he laughed whilst tickling him,the kids laughter echoed through the halls of the hospital,a sound not heard in a long,long time.

As Ash neared Damien's hospital room on her way back, she could hear Reece laughing again. Quietly she continued on, and stood at the doorway, watching the two. She smiled. This kid was a strange one... but somehow cute. After a moment, she walked into the room, placing the bottle of water by Damien's bedside.
"I think he likes you," she laughed.

"Thanks,and i dont know about that,maybe i look funny" he said just before gulping down the water to the last drop.He took aim and threw the empty bottle across the room,it bounced off the wall and landed in the bin,the kids eyes went wide and his face broke into the same...everpresent grin."I hope i can get out of this hospital soon,i hate feeling useless" he said looking out the window.The hospitals perimetre was surrounded by razorwire and 10 metre high fences.Behind the fences were guard towers bristling with every type of mounted Automatic weapon you could imagine.Over 50 well trained heavily armed soldiers partrolled the perimetre and spotlights shone along the fences,it was like a prison,except it kept the bad people out,and the good people in.

Ash sighed. It wasn't the first time Damien had managed to get himself stuck in here, but this was by far the worst injury he'd ever had.
"I'm sure they can find something for you to do here," she said, producing a candy bar from her pocket and placing it in Reece's outstretched hands.
"Don't get too messy, I don't want to have to clean you up," she said to the little boy who was too preoccupied with opening the wrapper to pay her any attention.

"hey share some of that with me kiddo" he said reaching out and opening the candy bar,he stole a small chunk from the end.The kids smile vanished and became somewhat of a glare."dont look at me like that,you have to learn to share" he said handing back the piece of chocklate,which Reece quickly ate."Your not very nice are you?" he said with a chuckle "at least share some with you MUM" he put a bit of emphasis on the word,looking forward to seeing the annoyed look on Ash's face.
(Afterwoulds do you want to maybe skip a few years,like say 10 or so years?,just to quicken the pace a tiny bit,maybe Ash can odopt Reece or something)
