Ynyr was silent for a moment before he spoke again.
"Will you and daddy tell me what you were doing? While you were gone?"
Cloud stopped by Ashlynn when she stopped to pick up a shell.
"That's pretty." He said with a smile. "We should've brought a bucket or something."

Ashlynn smiled sweetly.
"You can have it Uncle Spike," she said, offering the shell up to him.
Aerith sighed softly, biting her lip and pausing for a little while.
"Do you think... we should wait for Ashie first?"

Ynyr watched his mother for a while and then nodded.
"Ok..." He mused, squirming slightly like he wanted to go.
Cloud seemed rather startled by her offer, and blinked, "R-Really? For me?" He said, holding out his hand but hesitating to take the shell. He was deeply touched by her gesture.

Ashlynn smiled happily, dropping the shell in Cloud's hand. She put her hands behind her back, swaying back and forth on her heels.
"I missed you Uncle Spike," she said softly.
"You want to be put down?" Aerith asked Ynyr gently as he squirmed.

"Please." Ynyr replied to his mother.
Cloud looked down at the beautiful shell in bewilderment. It was rather beautiful, he was surprised the little girl had given it to him. He pocketed it carefully and knelt to the girls level, ignoring how wet it got him.
"I missed you too." He said, scruffing her hair a little, "Hope you were a good girl."

Aerith crouched to put Ynyr down gently with another gentle kiss, a little reluctant to let him go.
Ashlynn laughed, nodding enthusiastically.
"Let's go inside... the sun's going to sleep soon."

Ynyr gave his mum another quick hug before he started to toddle off.
"I'll be back mummy." He said before disappearing down the hall.
"Alright, c'mon little mischief." Cloud said, scooping Ashlynn up and sitting her on his shoulders, "You alright up there?"

"Alright, let's get inside and get you warm before it gets dark and cold." Cloud said, heading back up towards the house.
Zack had been conversing animatedly with Kunsel when he noticed Aerith was no longer preoccupied.
"Over here honey." He gestured her over.

Aerith looked up to Zack as he spoke, quickly moving to his side and wrapping an arm around his waist, kissing his cheek gently. Though the last few months had been hard on them, it had also made them stronger than ever as a couple.
"What are we talking about?" she smiled.

"Kunsel was just filling me in on the workings of SOLDIER while i've been gone. Denzel's been quite the ladder climber apparantly, two ranks in only a few months!" He smiled, "Either the system favours him or he's got a knack." He chuckled lightly and gave Aerith a warm kiss.
"I'm curious as to what Tifa's cooking up in there." He said, nodding towards the kitchen. He turned when he heard the sliding door onto the beach-deck slide open and smiled when Cloud walked in with Ashlynn perched on his shoulders. The little girl was drenched and cloud was wet to the hips.
"Have fun with Uncle Spike did we?" He asked as Cloud set the little girl down.

Ashlynn nodded enthusiastically, running over to her father to give him a big, wet hug.
"Uncle Spike is fun," she agreed happily.
Aerith smiled, a little concerned that Ashlynn was completely drenched - she had a tendency to get sick easily - but glad that the little girl had enjoyed herself. And Cloud too it seemed. She crouched beside her daughter, offering out her arms.
"How about we run you a nice hot bath so you're ready for dinner?"
Ashlynn nodded again, moving into Aerith's hold. Aerith kissed Zack again gently as she straightened.
"I'll be back in a minute," she smiled, before heading for the hallway.
"Yn, bath time!"

Ynyr emerged from his bedroom at his mothers call and trotted over to grab for her hand.
"Have fun Ashie?" He asked the little girl in his mother's arms with a bright smile.
Cloud blushed when Zack turned to him after watching Aerith and the kids go.
"I think my little girl really likes you Cloud." He observed.
"What makes you say that?" Cloud replied, shifting awkwardly, "I'm gonna go help Tifa."

Ynyr made a weird noise half like a 'meh' and partly like a whine when his sister said he should have gone with them. "Its alright, you had fun with Uncle Spike." He said as they reached the bathroom.
As was routine he began to take off his little shirt without even being asked.
