[The Painted Lady]

Aerith gave a quiet laugh as Ynyr met them in the hallway.
"Good morning sweetie," she said, holding Ashlynn secure as she crouched down to kiss his nose lightly.
"Now, where's Daddy?" she asked, having seen right through her son's facade immediately.

Ynyr blushed slightly, realising already that he'd messed up his defence attempt XD
"Daddy is uh..." He scratched the back of his head in a way reminiscent of Zack "Feeding the dog?" He stuttered before moving to hug his mother, "He's playing with Favavi."

The sound of Zack's laughter came from the kitchen.

Aerith managed to hold in her amusement a little better. She raised an eyebrow.
"I hope you're not telling me fibs Ynyr Fair," she said in a mock-warning tone.

On her hip, Ashlynn folded her arms.
"You lie!"

Ynyr went red in the face before his tongue blurted out the truth.
"Daddy is cooking a special breakfast." He said, the words all escaping in a hurried drawl before he clapped his hands to his mouth.

"Traitor!" Zack called from the kitchen still laughing, "Insubordination!" There was the sound of an opening cupboard door, the clink of plates and then he called out again.
"It's alright Yn, i'm done."

The red face little boy stepped aside for his mother and sister, looking a little sheepish.

Aerith smiled, stretching out to pull Ynyr back in and juggle him on her other hip as she stood.
"Good boy," she cooed as she continued to move into the kitchen.
"Give Mum a kiss?"

"Naawkay." Ynyr mused as he leaned in the give his mother a kiss on the cheek, "I'm sorry, daddy told me too."
Out in the main dining room Zack had set plates for the four of them and there was a large plate of pancakes in the middle with all sorts of toppings around it.
"If there's anything i do know how to cook it's a mean pancake." Zack said with a grin, moving to take Ashlynn from Aerith before pulling out her chair for her and settling Ashlynn into hers.

"What would you like on your super special daddy pancake, Ashie?" He asked as he settled her down.

Aerith laughed.
"I knew it had to be his evil doing..." Aerith teased.
She adjusted her hold on Ynyr carefully as Zack took Ashlynn.

"Honey please," the little girl said cheerfully, clapping her hands together.

Aerith carefully lowered Ynyr into his chair before taking her place in hers that Zack had pulled out for her. Such a gentleman.
"Hey."
She caught Zack's hand, pulling him to her gently for a kiss.
"Good morning you."

"Goodmorning Angel, sleep well?" Zack replied to Aerith as he put honey on Ashlynn's pancake for her. "And what would you like on your pancake?" He turned from Ashlynn to face Aerith as he moved the pancake onto Aerith's waiting plate.
"Ladies first you understand Yn." He said, glancing at his son.
"Yes daddy." Ynyr replied with a happy smile, seemingly content to wait his turn.

Aerith shook her head with a smile.
"I'll have the same, just to be easy."

Zack grinned and flipped the honey bottle around in his hand before tossing it behind him, up over his shoulder and catching it in his other hand to squirt honey onto Aerith's pancake in one fluid motion.
"There y'go, quick and simple." He leaned in to kiss her warmly before turning to face Ynyr, "And what can i offer you little man?"
Ynyr laughed and pointed to the maple syrup. Once Ynyr's pancake was lathered in a nice layer of the brown sauce Zack got his own, sprinkling it with sugar and then adding a sprinkling of lemon juice.
"Mmmmmm yum. Our first decent breakfast in a while, i'm excited." He rubbed his hands together and picked up his utensils, looking around the table, "Everyone got what they want? Drinks maybe?"

Aerith laughed, placing a hand on Zack's arm.
"Stay. You went to all this trouble. The least I could do is get us some drinks."
Before he could protest, Aerith rose, moving behind the kitchen counter to the fridge.
"What does everyone want?" she smiled.

"Juice!" Ashlynn chimed.
"... please," she remembered.

"But-" Zack protested, but it was too late. With a sigh he grinned and called after Aerith, "A coffee'll do me love." He started to roll his pancake into a sausage, watching as Ynyr cut his up himself, his tongue hanging out as he concentrated.
Zack stifled a laugh, "Would you like something to drink Yn?"
The little boy looked up, looking thoughtful for a moment before he nodded, "Juice please for me too mummy." He called to the kitchen.

Aerith smiled, bringing out a cup each for the twins while she waited for the kettle to boil. She stopped by Zack to wrap her arms loosely around his neck and kiss the top of his head.
"Isn't Daddy good to us? Cooking pancakes for breakfast, hm? I hope you thanked him..."

"Thank you Daddy," Ashlynn said with a sweetness similar to her mother's.

"Rnkyyu rddy." Was the noise Aerith got in response from Ynyr, whose mouth was stuffed impossibly full with pancake.

Zack tried to hide a laugh, "Ynyr, you shouldn't talk with your mouth full." He then smoothed the smile from his face with a quick hand and leaned his head back to kiss Aerith's chin.
"Aww it wasn't that hard. As long as i'm here in the morning and awake before noon i'll be happy to cook breakfast." He smiled.

Aerith giggled, looking down to kiss Zack again when he spoke to her.
"I can't say I wouldn't enjoy that," she smiled.
She kissed him one last time before she released him.
"I'll get your coffee..."
