Naiah was still at the reigns when she heard the conversation start behind her. "Morning, sleeping beauty!" she quipped, turning to pull aside the cloth and wave to Sam before she turned her attention back to the road ahead. Aldamir seemed to understand the conversation going on and whinnied loudly as he continued to follow the road, at a trot. "Aldamir says hello!" Naiah then called, as a translation of the animal's greeting.

Alario heard Sam come to life behind him, and sent an absent-minded look back at his friend. 'You can thank me for carrying your sorry ass outta there later, man. How ya feeling?' He was uncharacteristically worried for his friend, and wanted to make sure he was okay before trying any rash moves.

Sam sat up with a cocked eye-brow trying to clear his head and think. "Carried me, w-" he shook his head roughly. "What the hell happened?"

Lua sighed, having little patience for his questions. "A man came in accompanied by these masked... beings. He agitated you, you passed out for some reason or another and so, like a pinched child we went running, soundly scolded by those strange creatures." She removed her hand now, returning to her perch on the edge of the cart without another word.

"yeah, consider yourself lucky we were all around! Miss fancy-boots has been keeping an eye on you since we left, and if I wasn't there, you'd never have gotten outta town fast enough!" Naiah remarked, smirking in an odd manner. "I guess maybe it was fate. Perhaps the gods so wanted it that we should all meet in that bar, this situation hardly seems your average scenario, to me" she laughed then, shifting in her seat slightly. "well anyway, since I'm carting you three around, perhaps you could give me your names? I'd rather not have to refer to you each by description" She asked, flicking one long plait back over her shoulder.

Alario rolled his eyes at the religious mumbo jumbo. 'The name's Alario Umbra, but just Alario will do fine.' He went back to scouting out the back, rifle at the ready. The mercenary had an uneasy feeling, and whenever he had those, they usually turned out to be right, unfortunately.

Sam sat back looking at the land passing by. Nothing but scattered groups of trees and grass, and the occasional wild animal. San looked up at the clouds. They were low and all the same shape. To Sam they looked kind of like lizards. He looked at the clouds closer. They were moving. Diving. Sam tilted his head and said "Well shit. Nimbus Dragons! Speed up!" As the three clouds dived Sam could clearly see the white-grey feathers that covered the dragons' body, which allowed them to camouflage. The three of them were not very big, young adults barely before maturity.

Lua tilted her head skyward when Sam exclaimed, a look of annoyance crossing her features. "Bothersome..." she sighed, standing and lifting her staff from its place in the cart tray. She wouldn't cast anything yet, she just kept her eyes locked on their unwelcome company.

Naiah grumbled angrily, called back a curse of some form to the three approaching creatures, as she whipped the reigns, Aldamir immediately snorting in reply and increasing his speed into a gallop, pulling the cart once again at an admirable speed for such a heavy load. "keep them busy, I'll get us to a safer road!" she called back, remembering that not far from here there was a side-road that -although it would mean a longer trip- circled out through a small woodland area, with the thick trees she knew the dragons would quickly lose sight of them and give up the chase, at least for the time being. She made sure to direct Aldamir carefully, so that he went the right way without any mishaps.

Alario glanced up and saw the ghostly white creatures, instantly re-arranging himself in the cart to get a better angle with his rifle. Knowing that only direct magic could kill a dragon, of any age or kind, he knew better than to try infusing a bullet with fire. Instead, he got a bead on the thin membrane of the wing, ready to fire. 'Just say the word, Sam. I can try and take a few down by removing their ability of flight.'

((although I don't necessarily hate the idea, I never described dragons as being only vulnerable to magic))
"keep them busy? Damn, I should have taken that street side juggling lesson back home." Sam said with the usual sarcasm riddling his words. "Just kill the damn things."[/b Sam shot a ball of fire at one of be dragons, it dodged it with ease and it answered by a massive blow of air, sending the cart off balance.

Lua began murmuring softly beneath her breath, building up a spell of some sort. The air around her began to hum with energy.

"News flash, at this distance they'll have time to react and you'll not hit them! If you want to kill the bastards, you'll either have to use a faster spell or wait for them to get in close!" Naiah called back, just as much attitude in her tone as Sam, after she had directed Aldamir so that he kept his footing and pulled the cart back on four wheels. She could hear the woman murmuring a spell behind her and so she figured that she should just keep the cart moving and keep heading for the cover of the side-road and leave the fighting to those more capable of actually defeating the dragons. She might have had some magic up her sleeve, but it was too weak to stop a dragon.

Alario nodded and went silent as he concentrated, focusing as much fire magic as he could into a whole clip. He aimed vulnerable places on a dragon like the wings, the joints of its limbs, the underside of the neck, each time cracking off a shot. More than half of the shots missed, but those that did hit buried deep into the dragon's blood stream, beginning to literally set it on fire. Alario watched on as one of the dragon succumbed to the pain and toppled from the sky, screeching and roaring in agony. He smirked and focused on the rest.

((rifles are not magazine fed, and so don't have 'clips' . )) Sam muttered under his breath. He knew how to kill. How to hunt. Animals and otherwise. He knew a fair amount about dragons especially. There were a lot of them on his island. When the underbelly swelled the dragon was about to release whatever present it had to give that's why he fired the ball of fire. It made the dragon misjudge it's aim. Sam felt the carriage rock and he braced himself as it tipped. He fell uncomfortably close to his new female friend. He have a brief cheeky grin and fired another two fire balls toward the dragons from each hand. One grazed the face of one of the two remaining dragons. It growled loudly and dived toward the carriage.
