There was a long period of silence, and then... "Bye," Vincent said simply, turning and walking off.
Yuffie looked over to him in surprise. No, that couldn't be it... She got to her feet, running after him. "Hold it... Hold it!!" she yelled after him. He didn't respond, not even slowing up. "How can you part with us just like that? We're all war buddies you know." Still nothing. She ran away from the group to get ahead to stand in front of him, hands on her hips, scowling. Vincent stopped, but he fixed her with those strangely icey crimson eyes. And he was so much taller... It was a little intimidating. She shrunk a little, and took a step back. He wasn't going to change his mind.
"Take care," he said quietly as he moved past her.
Yuffie's shoulder slumped a little, but she didn't look behind her. After a sigh, she trudged back to the others. "Looks like he has somewhere to go," she informed them, trying not to sound disappointed.
"To his woman probably," Cid chuckled, finishing with a sigh. "Time I got going too..."

Tifa had gotten to her feet by the time Yuffie returned from trying to stop Vincent, and Cloud had come to stand by her side, wearing the same expression he always seemed to have. They didn't seem too surprised about Vincent's departure, in fact they all wore strange expressions.
"Same here." Barret replied. He hadn't gone to visit Marlene just yet... he'd been too wrapped up in getting the people of Midgar back on their feet. Now that Reeve had the restoration all under control thanks to his slowly establishing WRO, they could all go and do what they wanted now.

Yuffie could understand... she just didn't want to. "You know... You guys sure are taking this lightly," she said, trying not to sound upset. She wasn't so sure she wanted everyone to part just yet.
"It just means we know we can always meet again," Cid countered with a shrug, starting to walk off too.
She saw Nanaki nod out of the corner of her eye, but something seemed... odd. As if he was holding something in. He had been a little withdrawn ever since hearing of Bugenhagen's death.

Cloud didn't look at Yuffie, but as Cid turned to walk away he looked at Tifa. "Let's go." He said, turning to walk away himself, Tifa moving without hesitation to follow after him.
"Hey wait!" Barret called after the two, they paused to look back at him. "What do we do with all this?" Barret asked, pulling a number of coloured orbs from his prosthetic arm and offering them to Cloud, who stretched out as if he were about to take them from the man, his expression as blank as ever.

Yuffie's eyes widened, and suddenly she remembered the original purpose of her quest. "Wait!" She ran over to Cloud and Barret, appealing to the blonde... there was no point in trying to talk to Barret. "Can I have all the--" she stopped herself, knowing she was getting a little overzealous. "No, I mean can I just have half of all the materia?" she asked hopefully. "I'll bring them back to Wutai with me and keep them in safe custody. Well, I'll use them too maybe. Just a little." She squirmed a little as she felt Nanaki and Cid's eyes fall on her. She knew they were all thinking of Wutai. She blushed a little. "I was in the middle of hunting for materia you know. I got close to you all because I was following my instincts as a materia hunter," she mumbled, trying to cover her tracks. "The materia you all had was just too tempting." That didn't sound right... so she continued, trying a different tactic. She really wanted that materia. "To be honest with you all, I didn't really know what you were all after and know much about your past... Even now, it's kinda the same," she admitted. "But I fought with you all didn't I?" she offered. "And it wasn't because of the materia. I just wanted to be of use, even if I wasn't much. We're friends now. Come on, think about it. How many times have I saved you all from pinches?" She half expected a counter-attack to come straight away.

Cloud seemed a little skeptic at first, but as Yuffie fell silent, he glanced to Kunsel who had come to stand beside the ninja, and to Tifa as well. It was Tifa who spoke, "Yeah, you helped us out a lot Yuffie." She said with a cheery smile, filled with heartfelt warmth. "You're a beautiful person, so cheery and strong."

"Huh!?" The ninja hadn't been expecting a postive response at all. "Are you serious?" She didn't seem to be joking... Maybe she would get the materia after all.

Tifa continued to smile kindly, nodding her head in confirmation, black locks swinging in the luminescent air. ""Mmhmm," "What do you think, Barret?" Cloud asked then, turning to face the large man. "Hmmmm—" Barret mused, pretending to look as though he was thinking very hard, rubbing his chin. "It's true that Yuffie's a good friend of ours. But it's a whole different matter when it comes to materia, isn't it?" He looked at her with a raised eyebrow, feigning uncertainty.

"No it isn't!" Yuffie insisted quickly. She worried Barret would be her undoing... "It's the same. The same! I know it maybe all over now that we've defeated Sephiroth, but I have a great dream and that's to restore Wutai. To do that, having materia is crucial."
"Restoration eh—" Yuffie deflated when Cid interrupted. Her original hope was starting to fade. She turned a hard stare on him. He'd better not say anything to incriminate her. "If that's what you need it for, isn't Midgar much worse off?"

"You're right." Cloud mused, a look of genuine thought crossing his face as he turned his gaze to the floor, arms folded tightly across his chest. When he looked up again, it seemed he'd had an idea. "Alright Yuffie, we'll give you all the materia." He said.

The tiniest ghost of a smirk crossed Cloud's face as Yuffie showed her enthusiasm. She was in for a shock. "But i keep it, in safe custody." He said, voicing this condition firmly, so that she knew he meant it 100%.

Cloud's expression didn't change from the dead serious one he wore, his eyes were hard as stones as he shook his head. "You got it all wrong." He insisted in his gentle monotone, "Most of our materia are used for battle right? It really won't be of much use for Wutai." He shrugged, "So we'll just share the ones that will be of use in healing and I'll keep the rest. I think I'm the one that's the most experienced when it comes to dangerous materia." He cringed a little at that.

"Kunsel's just as experienced," Yuffie muttered. She sighed, starting to feel defeated. It was hard to argue with Cloud when he used that voice. "It's true we don't need any equipment for battles any more but..."
